Rebudding from the Ground Up

I've taken an idea from my Madden dynasty and incorporated it into this chise.

If you couldn't tell what team this chise is about, welcome to your first day as a hockey fan!

Major Leafs transactions in the 2010-11 season:

Traded Tomas Kaberle to the Buffalo Sabres for their 2011 1st round draft pick and their 2012 1st round draft pick.

Claimed G Thomas Greiss off of waivers from the San Jose Sharks

Claimed G Jeff Deslauriers off of waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.

Another Disappointing Season, Burke on Way Out

TORONTO - After a year in which the Maple Leafs went 36-42-4, Brian Burke, ex general manager of the Leafs, has been fired effective today. This comes after he made a trade sending the first two rounds of picks in the 2010 NHL Draft and the 1st round pick in this year's draft to Boston for one-dimensional winger Phil Kessel. Tyler Seguin was drafted with that first round pick last year and Benjamin Conz with the first rounder this year. He also lead the team to another top-5 pick this year securing the 4th overall pick.

Tough Decisions Coming Up for New GM

TORONTO - Fans have criticized the MLSE's newest general manager for his lack of experience, but he hasn't yet made a move. With multiple youngsters and an even higher amount of aged veterans possibly headed to the free agent market this year, GM Gano Laderoute has to make decisions, and quickly as he only has one week until July 1st, or the start of free agency. Luke Schenn leads the free agent candidates as he appears to be the number one target for Laderoute to re-sign. Before Burke was fired, he tendered a qualifying offer to Schenn, which guarantees that the Leafs will receive compensation if Schenn signs with another team. However, Laderoute is looking to sign him to a long-term contract.
