Re: The C of Red - Calgary Flames (NHL11 BAGM)

Game 16. Oilers @ Flames, 1-3

Jarome Iginla continued his hot season with two goals when the Flames topped the visiting Edmonton Oilers, 3-1. Lance Bouma had his first career NHL goal for Calgary while Jordan Eberle replied for Edmonton.

Game 17. Canucks @ Flames, 1-5
The Canucks came to Calgary on a mission to take over the lead in the Northwest Division, but they got hammered by red-hot Flames who secured their third win in a row. Niklas Hagman, Olli Jokinen, Ales Kotalik, Jarome Iginla and Mikael Backlund all scored for Calgary. Miikka Kiprusoff was denied a shutout when Ryan Kesler scored for Vancouver with just 22.4 seconds left in the game.

Game 18. Ducks @ Flames, 2-1 SO
Miikka Kiprusoff and Jonas Hiller dominated the game between Calgary and Anaheim, and the Swiss goaltender had the better end as the Ducks won, 2-1 after a shootout. Mark Giordano and Bobby Ryan scored in regulation, and Teemu Selanne scored the lone goal in the shootout.

Game 19. Kings @ Flames, 0-2
Miikka Kiprusoff got his second shutout of the season with a 22-save-performance against Los Angeles. His first shutout had also come against the Kings. Ales Kotalik and Ryan Howse scored for Calgary.

Game 20. Blues @ Flames, 4-2
Backup goaltender Henrik Karlsson also lost his third game of the season, as the visiting Blues doubled the Flames thanks to stellar outings by goaltender Jaroslav Halak (36 saves) and forward Patrik Berglund (2 goals and 1 assist). Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay scored for Calgary, but Tanguay was injured shortly after his goal and left with a groin injury.

INJURY REPORT:

*** Rene Bourque (concussion, has missed 18 games) joined the Flames on their road trip and is expected to make a comeback in one of the next games.

*** Brent Sopel (upper-body, has missed 8 games) is still day-to-day. He is not on the current road trip, but he could join the team on the road when his situation improves.

*** Alex Tanguay (groin) is expected to miss a week or two. The Flames have recalled wingers David Van der Gulik and Greg Mauldin.

HOT OR COLD?

Iginla: provides most of Calgary's offense.
Backlund: 8 points in first 12 games.
Kiprusoff: 7-0-1 with 2 SOs in last 8 starts.
Schenn: no points in the last 11 games.
Glencross: just 2 goals in the last 15 games.
Hagman: just 2 goals in 13 games.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

The Flames go on a road trip and are playing in Edmonton and San Jose twice. They also visit Phoenix.

Go Iggy! Shouldering the franchise yet again. Kipper really putting on a show for you as well.

Keep up the good work, I like your hot and cold segment, neat idea.

thank you for following! Iginla and Kiprusoff have been excellent out there, but others have been very streaky, and the injuries didn't help. Considering those problems, the record is very good I think. I really enjoy playing with the team - sometimes I lose interest in playing with a team after 10 or 20 games in, but this one has been real fun so far.

Good to hear. Do you find Iginla to be a dominating force when you have him on the ice. I know when I play against him he is hard to knock off the puck.

Yeah, he's a force out there. However, a lot of his goals have been rebounds from Tanguay, Bouwmeester or Backlund, but he also has a fantastic shot and good accuracy in the game. I often turn to him when I struggle.

Re: The C of Red - Calgary Flames (NHL11 BAGM)

BIG 25 game update :P

--------------------------------------

Game 21. Flames @ Oilers, 4-1
The Flames had no problems with their arch rivals, beating the Oilers 4-1. Jarome Iginla continued to impress with two goals. Niklas Hagman and Tim Jackman (empty-net) had the other goals for Calgary, Taylor Hall replied for Edmonton. Joni Ortio, a former Flames prospect who was acquired by Edmonton in the summer offseason, played in goal for the Oilers and finished with 32 saves.

Game 22. Flames @ Oilers, 3-2
The two teams met again the following day, and although the Oilers played better than than the day before, the Flames proved to be stronger again. Olli Jokinen, Mikael Backlund and T.J. Brodie scored for Calgary, Magnus Paajarvi and Tom Gilbert had the goals for Edmonton. The Flames had another reason to celebrate as winger Rene Bourque returned to the lineup after missing 19 games with a concussion.

Game 23. Flames @ Coyotes, 2-1 OT
In a defensive-oriented game, the Flames got an overtime win thanks to Niklas Hagman. Hagman converted a penalty shot after 2:37 in overtime after he was hooked on a breakaway by Keith Yandle. Jarome Iginla and Martin Hanzal scored in regulation while Miikka Kiprusoff and Ilya Bryzgalov finished with 27 and 29 saves, respectively.

Game 24. Flames @ Sharks, 2-3 OT
Another overtime, but this time a loss for the Flames. Jay Bouwmeester and Rene Bourque had their first goals of the season to force overtime, but Torrey Mitchell ended it with just 0:57 left in overtime. Ryan Clowe and Marc-Edouard Vlasic had the other goals for San Jose.

Game 25. Flames @ Shars, 3-2
The Flames got some revenge for the overtime loss two days ago, but they were also dealt a heavy blow when Curtis Glencross broke his leg in the second period when he tried to block a shot by Dan Boyle. Glencross is expected to miss about two months. Jarome Iginla scored twice for Calgary, and Mark Giordano had the game-winning goal. Joe Pavelski and Ryan Clowe scored for San Jose.
