A Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

This is a dynasty I have been working on for awhile now, I only recently came across this site, and have decided to share my dynasty with you all now 57 games into the 2011-2012 season, hope you enjoy!

It was nearly 18 months ago when Brian Burke stepped down as the General Manager of The Toronto Maple Leafs. Burke was replaced by Ryan White. He is ready to turn around over 40 years of disappointment in Toronto. Now 57 games into the 2011-2012 season, White and the leafs look poised to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2004. After another horrible season in 2010-2011 ( finishing 32-46-4 for 68 points ), White first looked to the trade deadline to turn around his team by acquiring top prospect Alexander Burmistrov along with Dustin Byfuglien and Angelo Esposito for Phil Kessel, Nikolai Kulemin, Mike Komisarek and their 2nd round pick in 2011. In the off season he started off by drafting young guns Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Sean Couturier, along with Swiz goalie Benjamin Conz. White added star players like Michael Grabner ( for Kadri,Armstrong and picks ) , Drew Doughty ( Offer Sheet ) and Dany Heatley ( Gunnarsson and prospects ) White picked up grinders Blair Betts and Jody Shelley while sending goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to Philadelphia. Depth was added in the signings of Jason Arnott,Peter Sykora,Adam Foote and Jose Theodore.

Here is a look at the current roster :

I like the youth up front and the pure awesomeness (yes that is a word) of your blue liners.

haha thanks.
Grabner and Burmistrov have been tearing up the league even though they both have missed about 10 games each with injuries.
The D is awesome, I got a very odd and tempting deal including luke Schenn earlier today though, what do you think of this ?

To San Jose : Schenn,Lupul,Slanley (prospect) 2013 2nd rounder
To Tor : Marleau,Thornton,Bozak

Its so tempting, but it would really change the look of my team, and basically leave me no cap room for next season.

Lupul has scoring ability, of course not as talented as Marleau or Thornton, but I just hate giving up Schenn for two guys who are going to eat up cap space for a few years to come. It would make your offense a whole lot better, but would you have an answer on defense?

I can't seem to find Lupul's scoring touch, he only has like 11 goals all year. Schenn has actually been injured twice this year ( including right now ) and I have faired pretty well without him. I was also thinking I could attempt to switch marleau with a depth d-man to help fill the hole, and to save a lot of cap, but i'm still unsure. I got about 10 games til the deadline.

I always like having that extra size and skill up front as I tend to play a more physical style of game when I play so that is a deal I would probably take. It just depends on how you play with your team and what you think will bring you the most success. It's all about putting together a team to match your play style to bring home that Cup.

One thing I am lacking is size up front. Grabner and Burmistrov are great but they also get pushed around a lot some games. This deal is looking more and more likely when I think about it.
