Owner Eddy Livingstone announced the hiring of Liam Bevan. The 48 year old managed the Edmonton Oilers last year, but was fired after failing to make the playoffs for the third straight year.

"I feel confident that I can bring victory to this team after years and years of disappointment". Said Bevan.


The Leafs have not made the playoffs since 2008, (NHL 08). Current captain Dion Phaneuf has yet to have been offered a contract.

"I'm not worried about my contract I've loved Toronto since being traded. I'm looking forward to this season me, Grabo and Phil have been doing some major training and are ready to go." Phaneuf reported.

The Leafs announce resigning of defender Dion Phaneuf. Many fans are excited to see the captain back.

"Phaneuf signed for a lot less than I expected". Said GM Bevan.

Phaneuf signed for 3 years worth $4.5 million a year. Front office also announced the signing of Patrick O'Sullivan and Kim Johnnson. Two experienced key components on our blue line will be a key factor for us we can't go wrong with Komisarek and Phaneuf back there.

In other news the Leafs aquired centre Erik Christinsen and right winger Cameron Abney from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for winger Jamal Mayers, Colton Orr and next years fourth round pick. They also added goaltender Ray Emery to the roster.
