It's a Great Day for Hockey (NHL 12)

This will be my only '12 dynasty. I am starting with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011-12 season.

As a warning, I may be a little ahead in the game

I've decided to make legends available in BaGM. I plan on signing one of them.

Re: It's a Great Day for Hockey (NHL 12)

Preseason Recap

"Big news" after the jump.

-------------------------
Pens Obliterate Islanders

And Matt Martin as well, even though Max Talbot is a douche

LONG ISLAND -- In a rather long, dragged-out game, the Baby Pens defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by a score of 7-0. Leading the charge for the Penguins was Evgeni Malkin, currently rehabbing from tearing both his ACL and MCL, and recently drafted D-man Joe Morrow. Malkin and Morrow combined for 9 points in the game, comprised of 3 goals and 6 assists. Morrow owned two of those goals and assisted thrice, whereas Geno sored twice and also assisted three times. AHL goaltender Brad Thiessen looked spectacular, stopping all 17 shots against him. Luckily, the same can't be said for Evgeni Nabokov, who is apparently playing for the Islanders? When did this happen?

PITTSBURGH -- It was a great sight in the CONSOL Energy Center today, as the Penguins defeated the New Jersey Devils in overtime by the score of 3-2. Joe Morrow was impressive today, laying out Ilya Kovalchuk and netting 2 assists. Evgeni Malkin had a new collection of hats as he scored 3 goals. Scott Munroe was average, stopping 20 of the 22 shots the Devils put on net. The post was even better, stopping 3 out of 4 shots against it.

Rocking Madison Square Garden

That ****ing backhander...

Pittsburgh -- Although Malkin was kept away from the goal column, he still found a way to assist on two goals in the Pens 5-2 victory over the New York Rangers. Joe Morrow was also good, hitting the twine two times. The Penguins move to 3-0 on the preseason with this victory, and their final game will be in Philadelphia on the 30th.

The Penguins have gone undefeated in the preseason after winning the final game against the Philadelphia Flyers by the score of 2-1. Geno scored his final goal of the preseason, to bring his total up to 6, and Brad Thiessen earned the starting job in Wilkes-Barre. Jaromir Jagr, of all people, scored the goal for the Cryers.

Re: It's a Great Day for Hockey (NHL 12)

Lemieux Laces 'Em Up

Mario is in the best shape of his life

Mario Lemieux will come back from retirement yet again, announcing that he has signed a one-year, $5.66 million contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Lemieux, 44, stepped into a time machine which ended up making him 17. However, he landed in an alternate universe where he is also in 2011, so that's that.

With the second highest point-per-game total in NHL history, Ray Shero believes that the acquisition of Lemieux will improve the current team. "Mario Lemieux was one of the best, if not the best, player in hockey history. Some have called him the most athletic person to ever step on the ice, and he has continued his career in a Penguins uniform."

Lemieux 2.0 is going to be a bust, calling it now.

Re: It's a Great Day for Hockey (NHL 12)

Smilin' Like a Butcher's Dog

Mario Lemieux is teabagging the entire league, leading the goal race

Mario Lemieux has played a role in 17 of the Penguins' 43 goals this season, scoring 11 and assisting on 6. That really is quite impressive for a 45 year old (soon to be 46, he actually turned 46 today IRL) who hasn't played competitive hockey since December of 2005, let alone a 45 year old man who hasn't played competitive hockey in 6 years AND has basically no vertebrae in his back. Sadly, Super Mario's **** return hasn't helped the Penguins to a 13-0-0 start, as the defense has struggled after Paul Martin broke his rib during the 7th game of the season, and he will not be back until early December. Joe Morrow, who looked extremely impressive during his 7-game taste of the NHL, was sent down after the game. On this, Ray Shero commented, "Joe [Morrow] is an incredible hockey player who we believe will improve with some seasoning in the CHL. He showed us the is a competent NHLer during his short stint here, but we sent him back to Portland because we feel that he cannot develop to his potential while playing third pairing minutes."
