A pretty solid 12 games from the leafs. I had some rough games against some good teams however. San Jose flat outplayed me for 60 minutes, I couldn't create any offense, and Reimer was weak in net. Goaltending and Defense was weak against the Canucks. Those couple of games are making me question if this team will be strong enough in the playoffs. Even with the 9-3 blowout of Washington, the scoring came from the top 2 lines, and Reimer was again weak in net. I'll be looking to add some scoring depth in the next 2 days.

My top guys continue to perform. From Kessel to Phaneuf on the scoring list, these guys are the core of the team, none of them will be moved before the deadline. I love the play from Franson,Schenn,Gardiner and Steckel as well. Every other player could potentially be moved, but nothing is for sure as of today.
I like to add that Jordan Staal has been a beast as of late, I'm very happy with the trade I made for him, he's looking great out there.
John-Michael Liles has played his way out of Toronto. He was a healthy Scratch against Washington, and is expected to be moved any hour now. Keith Aulie was called up to replace Liles in the lineup.
Rumors out of Toronto suggest Liles will be moved to either Edmonton,Vancouver or Columbus.

Re: Leafs NHL 12 Dynasty

2012 Trade Deadline Preview

It has been a fantastic season so far. Many great moments and a lot of surprises. In the west Phoenix and Colorado are leading the way. Last year's conference champs, Vancouver are sitting in 9th just trying to get back into the playoffs and another shot at the cup. Edmonton's days at the bottom of the standings are no more, will they be looking to make a big move to insure a playoff spot ? Columbus,St.louis,Calgary and Dallas are having horrible seasons, will they look to trade big contacts and high end talent to bring in draft picks for the future ?
In the East the story of the season has been the emergence of the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are 1st in the east and led by the dominating top line of Joffrey Lupul,Tim Connolly and Phil Kessel. Will Toronto be looking to add that one elite player to push them over the top ? or do they believe in the guys they have in the dressing room right now ? Florida,New York Islanders and Winnipeg are enjoying surprising seasons that have them in a playoff spot late in February. What will they be looking to do on deadline day ? Perhaps the biggest surprise of the season is of the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lighting. Two teams that battled to game 7 in the eastern conference final just a season ago are sitting 13th and 14th in the standings, with little hope of turning things around this late. In last the New York Rangers are searching for answers, after adding Brad Richards in the off season nothing seems to be working for them. Will these disappointing high end talented teams ship off any big names ? Only time will tell.

Re: Leafs NHL 12 Dynasty

Thanks guys.
I wanted to let you all see what each team is looking for. Now we all know most of the players that are on the trading block probably won't be moved, but I do still use it a lot for ideas.

Re: Leafs NHL 12 Dynasty

It was a slow and mainly quiet trade deadline day in the NHL. Only six deals were made, along with one major waiver claim. Let's have a look at each deal.

To CGY: 2012 2nd round pick (PIT)

To PIT: D Derek Smith 1 year remaining @ 0.700M, 74 Overall C/C/C
2012 4th round pick (CGY)

The only move the disappointing Calgary Flames made before the deadline. While they do move up in the draft, they had other assets they could of moved to acquire more picks.

To TOR: F Linus Omark 1 year remaining @ 0.875M, 82 Overall B-/B-/B-
2012 3rd round pick (EDM)

To EDM: D John-Micheal Liles 1 year remaining @ 4.200M, 83 Overall C/C/C
2013 6th round pick (TOR)

Well there it is. Everyone knew Liles was on the move, and Toronto got great return for him. Omark has put up 21 points in 45 games with Edmonton this season and is game is improving every year. He will provide good secondary scoring on the 3rd line for the leafs. Edmonton was desperate for a D man, Liles will be a good for the 8th place Oilers who are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

To NJ: 2012 1st round pick (MTL)
F Scott Gomez 3 years remaining @ 7.355M, 84 Overall C/C/C

To MTL: D Henrik Tallinder 3 years remaining @ 3.375M, 83 overall C/C/C

Lou Lamoriello has lost his mind. While the 1st round pick is nice, there is already enough big contracts on the roster. The extra 4 million Gomez puts on the cap will make it harder to sign Praise in the off season as well. Montreal needed a D man, and even with the over-payed Tallinder coming back,if Montreal makes the playoffs, Pierre Gauthier looks like a genius in this deal.

To TB: F Trevor Lewis 2 years remaining @ 0.725M, 78 Overall B-/C/C

To LA: G Mathieu Garon 2 years remaining @ 1.385M, 83 Overall C/C/C
2012 4th round pick (TB)

Dean Lombardi is another GM who has lost his mind. While this deal looks harmless on the surface, with the addition of Garon to the roster, LA attempted to send down Jonathan Bernier, he was quickly picked up by Tampa Bay. It looks like Tampa has solved there goaltending problems.

To NSH: F Jason Arnott 1 year remaining @ 3.200M, 81 Overall C-/C-/C-

To STL: F Eric Godard 1 year remaining @ 0.700M, 79 Overall C/C/C
F Brian Mcgrattan 1 year remaining @ 1.045M, 79 Overall C/C/C

Arnott returns to Nashville with hopes of helping them into the playoffs. St.Louis in return only ended up with Mcgrattan as Godard was claimed off waivers by Columbus later that day.

To CBJ: 2012 2nd round pick (WPG)
D Mark Flood 1 year remaining @ 0.860M, 73 Overall C/C/C

To WPG: F Mark Letestu 2 years remaining @ 0.625M, 79 Overall C/C/C
F Derek Mackenzie 1 year remaining @ 0.600M, 79 Overall C/C/C

A good deal for both sides. Winnipeg picks up two centres who are able to contribute in the NHL. The struggling Columbus Bluejackets acquire a fairly high pick in the upcoming draft and a nice D-Man to add to their AHL roster.

The Big winners of the day are the Tampa Bay Lighting with the waiver claim of potential Franchise goaltender Jonathan Bernier.
The Big losers of the day are the Los Angeles Kings for the stupidity that was involved in thinking that Bernier would not be claimed in an attempt to send him down.

List of Waiver Claims:

Winnipeg Claims G Martin Biron 1 year remaining @ 0.875M, 83 Overall C/C/C
From Tampa Bay

Columbus Claims RW Eric Godard 1 year remaining @ 0.700M, 79 Overall C/C/C
From St.Louis

Tampa Bay Claims G Jonathan Bernier 2 years remaining @ 1.250M, 83 Overall B/B/B
From Los Angeles

Carolina Claims RW Adam Hall 1 year remaining @ 0.685M, 79 Overall C/C/C
From Tampa Bay

Carolina Claims C Martin St.Pierre 1 year remaining @ 0.600M, 74 Overall C/C/C
From Columbus

Carolina Claims C Ryan White 1 year remaining @ 0.525M, 79 Overall C/C/C
From Montreal

Calgary Claims C David Desharnais 2 years remaining @ 0.750M, 78 Overall C/C/C
From Montreal

Toronto Maple Leafs Update Lines:

Lupul-Connolly-Kessel
Kulemin-Staal-Grabovski
Omark-Bozak-Colborne
Mueller-Steckel-Armstrong

Franson-Phaneuf
Schenn-Gardiner
