Islanders Sold To Facebook, Relocation Imminent

Kiss it goodbye, the Islanders are done.

After many recent years of being mired in mediocrity, the Islanders are done in Long Island and it appears that the Quebec faithful have something to be excited about.

"It is truly a bittersweet moment for the NHL to announce the sale of the Islanders to the Facebook group, a sale that will find the franchise a new home in the city of Quebec", announced Gary Bettmen at the NHL Headquarters this afternoon.

"Its shocking", stated young forward Jonathan Tavares, "at the same time, it will be nice to play in a city where you know they will be there for you-win or lose."

More details about the move will be announced in the coming days, but you can guarantee the city of Quebec is thrilled beyond words.

Hockey is back.

Note:

I will simulate the 2011-2012 season, so that the first season in Quebec will actually be 2012-2013. The simulated 2011-2012 season will be considered the Islanders last season.

The results of the 2011-2012 season will be posted next, before I post the moves I made to the roster to proceed the 2012-2013 season.

Islanders Final Season A Success; 2nd Round Playoff Loss To Washington Marks The End Of Franchise

Washington celebrates their victory over the Islanders in the 2nd round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Washington Capitals would go on to win the Stanley Cup in 5 games over the Chicago Blackhawks.
