Hi everyone im new too this fourm and have been reading some of the other post here. ive decided to try this out and start a wings dynasty. Well actually i already started and im at the trade deadline in the 2011-12 season
since i am at work most of the team stuff im posting im going from memory. Hopefully tomorrow i will have a post trade deadline update. But for now i can post what my lineup looks like. I think currently i sit mid-pack in the western conference, the wings havent been doing so good so far this season. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are leading the team as usual in scoring.
below is my current lineup. i may see what i can do at the deadline to improve my top 6. Bertuzzi hasnt really meshed with franzen and datsyuk and i may drop in to the 3rd or 4th line and move cleary up unless i can find something at the deadline.
I may also bench him and bring up Nyquist and see if that does anything. All of this will depend on what i can do at the deadline.
I will try and do 15-20 game updates and then off-season stuff.
Just a quick side note on the stats table and box score summary(coming in another post) this is my 1st time using these table generators and I didn’t look to see what you can add to the table so I didn’t get all the stats that I could have just basic stuff for my 1st stats update and 1st game summary. But I promise future updates will have a bit more info in the tables im new to the forums. I am learning as I go, so be easy on my im learning LOL. then on top of that ill be doing most of my updates from work so i have to write down or take pictures of stats at home then bring it to work LOL.
2012 Trade Deadline
Trade Deadline has come and gone last night and for the Redwings they made a bit of a surprising move.
In a late hour call to Carolina and deal was struck that sent Brad Stuart, Daniel Cleary and the Wings 2013 1st rd pick to the Canes. Coming back to Detroit is forward Tuomo Ruutu and the Canes 2012 2nd rd pick.
This deal is a bit of a head scratcher as the Wings really didn’t need another scorer at this point in the season, their biggest problem was defense. But with rumors spreading that Brad Stuart wanted to go back to the West Coast after this season (he will be a UFA) to be closer to his family the Wings decided to try and get something for him now.
Ruutu is a UFA at seasons end but the Wings have started contract talks with his agent and will see how he preforms the rest of the season.
Currently the Wings are out of a playoff spot, with the addition of Ruutu this will drop Bertuzzi to the 3rd line and Ruutu will be inserted into the top 6. Plans are to have him play alongside Filppula and Zetterberg.
Mike Commadore will take Stuarts place in the lineup and the Wings may give top prospect Brenden Smith a look see on the big club this season.
The Wings did move a 1st rd pick but did gain a 2nd rd pick in the 2012 draft. This will give them 1st rd pick and (2) 2nd rd picks which team will use to add to their defensive prospect pool.
Other trades in the NHL last night:
To NYI: C. MaCarthur, David Steckel
To TOR: J. Bailey, R. Dipietro
To CAR: A. Grioux, D. Gabriel, 2012 3rd pick
To CMB: D. Bowman, Z. Boychuk
To CHI: D. Powe, J. Taffe, 2012 4th rd pick
To MIN: N. Leddy, B. McLean
To CHI: B. Betts, 2013 4th rd pick
To PHI: B. Pirri
Detroit also clamied Jonas Gustavsson from the Maple Leafs off waviers. This will give Gustavsson a chance to “audition” for the backup job next season in Detroit. He will be get in some games before the end of the season. The Wings have sent a message to Conklin and maybe Howard that they are not impressed by the goalie situation in Detroit.
Well after just posting the Wings didnt need another scorer at this point in the season the Wings went out and lost to the BlueJackets (who are have a good season and are near the top in the West) 1-0. Steve Mason was excellent for the BlueJackets stopping all 32 shots.
Columbus got out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st period when Prospal put home a rebound into a open left side of the net. From then on it was all Mason. The Wings threw the puck at Mason from everywhere but nothing went in. Ruutu making his Wings debut looked great on the ice. He had numerous chances but was denied by Mason.
The Wings had a glorious chance to tie the game late in the 3rd period when the got a Powerplay. But Columbus didnt give the Wings a chance to setup on the powerplay and the Wings ended up with 1 shot.
just a "for your information" type post about my current season.
my current settings:
10min period
i am using my own slider settings
I have simmed all the games up to the trade deadline and i played the game against Columbus (1st game right after the deadline)
Injuries were turned off just so i didnt have to deal with constantly fixing lines while i simming. but injuries will be turned back on from trade deadline to end of season as i will be hopefully playing more of the games trying to get my team into the playoffs.
I will hopefully do a updates each 20 games depends on time availability which im sure everyone here deals with as well.
I use to play online hockey in leagues on the PC. Nr1, VHA and a couple others i have played in over the last 10yrs. Now that i just play on the xbox and agaisnt the cpu i missed the gm aspect of the online leagues. We had trades, free agency, rookie drafts where rookies that were drafted into the nhl were created and we could draft into our league. We had contracts that players would sign in the offseason, free agent bidding, free agents rejecting our offers and their agents would counter offer. I actually enjoyed the gm part of the leagues more than the actually playing of games LOL.
So when i found this dynasty board and guys posting about their dynasty i thought i take a stab at it and see if that would fill the void LOL.
thanks Tazer. I just notice that Ruutu is from the same city as Filppula hehe.

The Redwings finished the season 9-9 and out of the playoffs for the 1st time in 21 years. The Wings did have a chance to get into the playoffs but were dealt a big loss when in a game against Columbus Pavel Datsyuk was knocked out and was expected to miss up to 6 weeks with a concussion. The Wings at that point were only 4pts out of a spot with 5 games left. but Losing Datsyuk really hurt there chances and then the very next game the Wings lost another top 6 players in Jiri Hudler. Those loses and their inability to score lead to them not making the playoffs.
