Coach Capuano on the season
There are ups and downs to all things. I really believe that we are on an upswing here.
We surpassed out last season played by 10 points in total and we had break out seasons from Kyle Okposo, Michael Grabner and Rick Dipietro came back strong this season.
We struggled around the midpoint of the year I would say was our roughest patch, and we pretty much traded water after that point. entering into this off season we may be looking at a large turn over, I know a few of the guys were considering retirement here so we could be looking at a whole new line up, especially depending on the development of some of our young prospects.
I know we didn’t touch the playoffs again here on Long Island but we are so close to it right now, you can see it when you take the time to watch a game, we just need a couple more pieces here and I really think we can make some noise next year.
I am going to stress these things of course to our GM Garth Snow but it is something everyone here knows.
We may have missed the playoffs but the guys here are proud of this season and were going to take that into the future.

I didn’t put in the guys who essentially just filled a spot in the line up for the last 20 games, none of them had over 4 points anyways.
Once again really happy with the season Grabner, Okposo, Tavares and Dipietro had.
Still not sure what the off season will be like, but we shall see. Lots of older players here who could retire.

I actually really liked Tampa Bay winning the cup, since they have Rolly this year I was glad, even though it’s a virtual cup, that he finally got one.

Garth Snow n the off season
As it stands the guys deserve a good summer off, don’t get me wrong here we expect a lot from them but I think it was a positive season, we seen a few guys really step up on the ice and take large strides forward in being NHL players and key players at that.
In a way we seen a return of the Dipietro of old, he stepped in and played some really good hockey, and it was a good learning season for our younger guys here, I hope they take a lot away from this season.
Moving forward we will be reviewing our entire infrastructure here on Long Island, there are potentially a few retirements coming up and we need to take a very long look around the league too. I think this year we will have to recoup a lot from free agency, but that all depends on the advancement of our young players, if we get guys like De Hann and Kabanov and Niederrieter stepping into the NHL and playing well then that goes miles for the stability of our club.
But for now were going to enjoy some time off and get back into this knee deep in a couple months.
