Blues Fall to Nashville

The Nashville Predators came into town tonight and beat the St. Louis Blues 4-3. Despite being held to just 3 shots in the 1st period, the Blues managed to head to intermission with a 1-0 lead. In the 2nd, the game became wide open, and Nashville was the team to take advantage. Brandon Yip would put the game away with his goal 12 minutes into the 3rd period.

The St. Louis Blues picked up a big 5-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings tonight thanks to a 3 goal stretch in 2:00 in the 2nd period. Vladimir Sobotka and Barret Jackman each had a goal and an assist to lead St. Louis. Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves.

Halak Shuts Out Phoenix
Jaroslav Halak recorded 33 saves and a shutout to lead St. Louis past Phoenix tonight 2-0. Alexander Steen scored just 39 seconds into the game, sliding a rebound off the boards under the pad of Mike Smith. Vladimir Sobotka would add the other Blues goal with a big slapshot just as their powerplay ended. Halak now has 4 shutouts on the year. Brian Elliott will get the start on Thursday, when the Blues host Edmonton.

Blues Keep Rolling
Brian Elliott picked up 24 saves and Alexander Steen added a goal and an assist to lead the St. Louis Blues past the Edmonton Oilers tonight 5-2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice in the 1st period to keep things interesting for Edmonton, but in the end the Blues were just too strong on the puck. St. Louis continues their hot stretch in which they are 14-4-5 in their last 23 games.
