I know this is weird because it's in the middle of my Be A GM mode but you guys will be able to catch up.

Big News that you've missed:
I've traded away Stamkos, St. Louis, and Hedman
I've acquired Kane, Brassard, Michalek, Subban and Steve Mason
Otherwise the rest is pretty minor news.

ST. PETE TIMES FORUM, Florida--The stage was set for opening night here in Florida as Tampa was ready to host Steven Stamkos and the Winnipeg Jets. The game started off tough as both teams ended the 1st period without a goal. In the middle of the 2nd there was a faceoff in the Winnipeg zone and Boyle won kicking it out to Malone. Malone then passed it over to Festerling who slapshotted it straight past Pavelec for the first goal of the season. Come the third Pavelec put his walls down as not 1, not 2, but 3 3rd period goals were scored by the Lightning. The first was by Dana Tyrell, the Center taking over for 1st line Right Wing for the injured Teddy Purcell. Next was Michalek and then Kane. But the real star is Mason who was able to stop all 18 of the Jets' shots. "It's a good way to start the season and we hope to keep this going," said Lightning Center Derrick Brassard. So now the Lightning wait to host rival Florida Panthers on Sunday.

ST. PETE TIMES FORUM, Florida--Tampa got ready to host Florida Sunday night and what a thriller it would be. These 2 in-state rivals were ready to hit and weren't afraid to get a penalty called on them as there were a total of 8 penalties accumulating a total of 16 minutes. The game started off as a goalie game as the 1st period was left scoreless. But in the 2nd period things picked up as Wolski scored on Mason and Mason was pulled from the game for Tokarski. Then Brassard went on the attack and scored to tie the game up late in the second. The third was hard fought as both teams wanted to win, but Tokarski would not allow Florida to score and Brian Boyle hit a goal with 3:00 left in the 3rd to win 2-1. Up next is the 1-1-0 Nashville Predators in Nashville.

BRIDGESTONE ARENA, Tennessee-- Tampa was ready to go on their first road game to Tennessee to face off against Nashville. Another scoreless first period for the Lightning and their opponents. Nashville struck first early in the second period as Kostisyn made a few dekes and scored on Mason. The game dragged on and it was almost over and it seemed as if Tampa was going to lose but Brassard brought it around the net passed off to a wide open Westgarth in front of the net and they were able to put it past Rinne to tie with :21 left in the third. OT was just like the 1st period as Rinne and Mason stopped everything that came by. So they went to a shootout. Kane got the first crack at Rinne and he made a nice move and got it around Rinne for the goal. Kostisyn brought it up the ice moved to the right side came back shoots it of one post across the red line off the other post and out. No goal! The Lightning lucked out and Mason would stop the next 2 shots to win the game 2-1 in a shootout. Next up the Lightning go to Detroit to face the 0-2-0 Red Wings.

JOE LOUIS ARENA, Michigan-- Detroit was set to host the undefeated Tampa Bay Lightning. The 1st was not scoreless this time as Kindl scored a goal in the middle of the first period. In the 2nd period Filppula scored another goal to put Detroit up 2-0. But Rookie Alex Hutchings was having none of it and sparked a comeback late in the 2nd by scoring a goal and making it a 1 goal game. Evander Kane scored early in the 3rd to tie the game up and send it into overtime for the 2nd straight game. Overtime went by with a shutout by both goalies. Then came the shootout. Kane got stopped, Mason stopped Datsyuk, and then came up Lecavalier. Lecavalier has been the leader of this team since Day 1 and he came out on top here putting the puck in the net past Mrazek and that would be the winner as Mason stopped the next two. Another shootout, another win for Tampa as they head to San Jose to continue their road trip against the 3-0-0 Sharks.
