Dallas Stars Off Season 2013:

GM Loonstra had a few rough nights at the ending of last season. Dallas was in good position to make the playoffs. But Dallas lost that good position after they traded Lidstrom. Loonstra guessed they didn't need him and that he would retire. So he went for the picks. Loonstra guessed wrong. Lidstrom did not retire and they DID need him. Dallas blew the end of the season and they missed the playoffs. Loonstra wants and has to make the playoffs this year. The peaces are there and with a few acquisitions Dallas should make it this year.

RFA/UFA signings: RFA John Carlson (D) 4 years, UFA Jaromir Jagr (RW) 1 year, Matt Carkner (D) 1 year, UFA Kari Lehtonen (G) 2 years, RFA Andrei Loktionov (C) 1 year, RFA Marc-Andre Bourdon (D) 1 year, RFA Philip Larsen (D) 1 year.

We decided not to sign 5 players, including back up goalie Bachman. We lost Burish through waivers (CBJ).

We signed 5 Free Agents (2 with compensation) and made 1 trade.

LW Max Pacioretty (84, PWF, B-B-B-) 1 year, $2.750 (compensation 2014 2nd round pick to MTL)

Ivanans retired suddenly and we lost a spot on the left wing. Pacioretty is a PWF and a talented winger that will be a top 6 attacker. Ott will be on the 4th line and Pacioretty will be on the 2nd or 3rd line. I was very happy with this deal.

C Artem Anisimov (83, PLY, CCC) 1 year, $1.710 (compensation 2014 3rd round pick to NYR)

We wanted another center in our team. Dowell and Fiddler aren't getting any younger and Loktionov, LeBlanc and Glennie are not ready yet. We wanted a few others but they picked other teams to play on. Anisimov will be a very good 3rd line center and will be here long enough untill the young guns will replace him.

G Evgeni Nabokov (84, HYB, D-D-D) 1 year, $1.715

We were not satisfied with Bachman and as soon as we had a chance to land a good back up we would let Bachman go. We have good young goaltenders like Campbell and Bartosak, but we do not want them to be a back up. Nabokov was our solution.

RW Mika Zibanejad (75, TWF, B-B-B-) 3 years, $0.925

The former 6th pick of the 2011 draft was available and we couldn't resist it. Zibanejad is a TWF and we hope he will make it and be a the talent he was in 2011. He will be in AHL this year.

LW Teemu Henritius (75, PLY, B-A-B-) 3 years, $0.525

This was another cheap player, who has a chance to become a unexpected hero in the NHL. Henritius was undrafted and has good enough skills to become a fulltime NHL player. He will also play in AHL this year.

Trade:

DAL traded B.Festerling (79,D) to CBJ for Slater Koekkoek (73, D, unsigned)
We wanted Festerling out and got a young OFD back, who we hope will make it in the NHL.

The board wants 41 wins and expects a playoff spot at the end of the season.
