45 years, 4 months, 17 days since the Maple Leafs won the prized Stanley Cup.

8 years, 4 months, 15 days since the Maple Leafs played their last playoff game.

Going into the 2012-2013 season, changes had to be made. Ron Wilson? Fired. Francois Allaire? Ugly public dispute following a resignation. Brian Burke's job is hanging by a thread.

Brian Burke promised there would be no five year rebuild. Now, entering his 5th year, the pressure's on. After a historic collapse last year, he'll need this team to be very good. He's brought a solid team to camp this year, but he's still missing the two things he promised when he got this job: A consistent goaltender to mentor James Reimer, and a first line center to feed the puck to Phil Kessel.

Last year wasn't all gloom, however. Kessel continued to show that he's one of the league's top scorers, Joffrey Lupul showed that when he isn't injured, he's pretty freaking good at hockey, and Jake Gardiner has displayed the potential to become a top 2 defenceman. The Leafs have good depth defensively, although they could use some more scoring.

How Brian Burke plans on dealing with these problems remains to be seen. But if he can't, the Leafs are going to need a new GM.

NHL, NHLPA Solve Dispute, Agree To End Lockout

Finally agreeing on revenue sharing system, NHL doesn't lose games- or fans



AP- Bettman and Fehr came through at the last second to give fans all they ever wanted- hockey.

"We took a firm stand, and we managed to get them to agree on a continuation of the current CBA for the next 15 years. Hockey is in a great place right now, we shouldn't be messing with it," Donald Fehr said today.

"The owners started trying to kill me, so I decided to stop being so smug and condescending for once and get a deal done. Savor it while you can, because I'll be smug and condescending again in about 5 minutes. Every minute I'm not hated, a little part of me dies," Gary Bettman explained.

Let's just hope that hockey is here for good, this time. Because we all know we can't afford another lockout.
