VENOMIOUS REVENGE
PORTER SCORES OVERTIME GOAL, TIES SERIES 1 - 1

detroitnews.com - April 18th, 2013 - by Vic Venom

Auburn Hills, Mi - Chris Porter scored his first goal of the playoff 8:00 into the overtime period to give the Detroit Vipers their first playoff win in franchise history and more importantly tie the series at 1 - 1 heading to Washington.

Washington was able to jump out to the 1 - 0 lead in the game when Alexander Semin scored his second of the playoffs off a rebound shot from Nicklas Backstrom with Ovechkin gaining the other assist and Washington led 1 - 0 after two period of play.

Detroit faught back in the third seeing the momentium change and when they finally got a power play chance they cashed in when Josh Bailey was able to fire a wrist shot off the defender in front of the net the redirected into the back of the net to tie the game at 1 - 1 and we would head to our first overtime in the playoffs.

Overtime was a back and forth affire but in the end it was Matt Moulson who skated behind the net and came out in front with a backhand shot that was stopped but Chris Porter was able to find the rebound and slide it between the pads of Rick Dipietro for the game winning goal and the Vipers would win their first playoff game in franchise history at home and tie the series up at 1 - 1 heading to Washington for the next two games.

Game's 3 and 4 will be held at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. starting on Saturday Night, April 20th with the puck dropping at 8:00pm.

ON THE EDGE!!
VIPERS LOSE HEART BREAKER IN OT, NOW DOWN 3 - 1

detroitnews.com - April 22nd, 2013 - By Vic Venom

Washington, D.C. - Mike Ribeiro scored just 1:51 into the first overtime period to give the Capitals a 3 - 1 stranglehold on the series heading back to the Palace on April 24th.

Roman Hamrlik got the crowd going early in the first when he scored his first of the post season on a one time slap shot from the top of the right circle to give Washington a 1 - 0 lead.

It would stay that way until late in the third period when the Vipers came out like a brand new team and played very hard in the third and got rewarded when Kyle Okposo sent a pass across the crease that was deflected and came lose in front of an open net when Dipietro slid to far out and was able to tap it in with 0:34 left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

In overtime though Roman Hamrlik was able to win to the point and was fired on net and the lose puck was sent though the pads of Evgeni Nabokov by Mike Ribeiro and the Capitals won the game by the score of 2 - 1 and now lead the series 3 games to 1 over Detroit.
