Re: The GM Career of Daniel Marcuzzi (NHL 12)

Columbus -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that they have named Daniel Marcuzzi as their new General Manager. The signing comes just two weeks after the mysterious resigning of former Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson. Howson leaves Marcuzzi with the worst team in the NHL following a last place finish last season which was the result of a lack of offense and horrible goaltending combined. Howson left three weeks before the start of the 2012-2013 pre-season which means Daniel Marcuzzi takes over the office just in time to have a look at the potential players that would be the 2011-2012 Columbus Blue Jackets. Howson left after a flurry of moves that saw him trade away franchise star Rick Nash to the New York Rangers in exchange for names such as Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov. He also acquired goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky from the Philadelphia Flyers and Nick Foligno from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Marc Methot. A string of moves are expected from the new General Manager as he gets ready for his first taste of managing an NHL team in a small market like Columbus. The surprising part of this signing is that everybody thought that they were going to go after a GM that has some kind of experience in the league.

Re: The GM Career of Daniel Marcuzzi (NHL 12)

2012-2013 Preseason

The Blue Jackets (0-0-0) finished the preseason with a 3-1-0 record.

8-1 Win over the St. Louis Blues, 4-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings, 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators and a 4-3 loss versus the Chicago Blackhawks. This seems like a good sign for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they are trying to bounce back from a season in which they finished last in the league. This is a great start to the season and the Blue Jackets will play their season opener against the Nashville Predators at home on Friday October 7th.

Hey, its your boss.

I know that we have to take a long term approach to the success of this franchise at this stage. I'll happily be surprised if you make the playoffs but won't be angry if you don't.

2012-2013 Week One

Columbus -- The Columbus Blue Jackets had a good week minus a little slip coming out of the gates to start the new season. The Blue Jackets (1-1-0) went 1-1 to start the season with a 2-1 loss at home against the Nashville Predators to start the new season and a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild the next day on the road in Minnesota. Jack Johnson is tied for the team lead in goals with 1 and fellow defenseman Fedor Tyutin is tied for the team lead in assists with 2. Jared Boll leads the teams with 12 penalty minutes. The Blue Jackets have games against the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche at home before heading onto the road to face the Dallas Stars on Saturday October 15th.
