A New Face Out West (NHL 13 Be a GM)

Dynasty Overview
Sliders: Cycloniac's TrueSim NHL 13 Sliders
Rosters: Fantasy Draft using Puckhead and Simple Math's Revamped Rosters
Play Style: Play 5-10 games then sim the same amount of games that I just played in a block.
So if I play 6 then I sim the next 6 and then start another playing block.
Team: Boise Huskies (Created Team) Replaced the Phoenix Coyotes

I have tried to do a few of these dynasty threads in the past and I found myself losing interest in them because I start the thread before I start the actual dynasty. This time I have already played a few games and am enjoying this so far. So I'd like to share this with people who have interest in NHL 13 still. I also used to try and over complicate things with complex box scores via Photoshop or other fancy user created content. I am just going to run this with simple recaps and the tables that OS provides for the dynasty users. I also live stream and post the whole games on YouTube. I will link the stream and my YouTube channel below.

Re: A New Face Out West (NHL 13 Be a GM)

Boise's Debut a Surprising Success

The Boise Huskies made their NHL debut tonight as they welcomed the Dallas Stars to town for their first ever NHL game. This brand new expansion team is looking to have some quick success with the way they played in the game tonight. It was a bit of a shaky start as it took the Huskies pretty much the entire first period to find their legs. The Stars caught a break late in the first as a shot from Andrej Sekera on what seemed to be harmless was redirected off of Huskies defense-man Andrei Markov and bounced right over Carey Price and into the net giving the Stars are 1-0 lead on their first powerplay of the game. After the first the Stars lead 1-0 but it was a pretty even game.

The Huskies came out strong in the 2nd though as they remembered that they are an NHL club now. That fluky goal didn't bother Price as he was solid the rest of game keeping the Stars to only that 1 goal. He finished the night with 16 saves on 17 shots. The Stars would shoot themselves in the foot in the final 2 periods. They ended the night with 5 penalties resulting in 3 Powerplay goals against. The Huskies showed that they have a strong PowerPlay and that alone can win them games. Niklas Kronwall blasted one past Bernier on the Huskies first PowerPlay to tie the game at 1 halfway through the 2nd. Jonathon Huberdeau potted his first ever NHL goal on a pretty tic-tac-toe passing play for the 2nd goal on the PP for the Huskies. The Huskies would put the Stars away with an empty net goal on their 5th and final PowerPlay of the night thanks to John-Michael Liles.

The Huskies took this one despite the efforts of Bernier in net for the Stars. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Boise Huskies. Up next is the 2nd half of a home and home with these Dallas Stars.

Good start. I will follow.

Always difficult those fantasy drafts. I always have the feeling afterwards that i could have done better.

Thanks for the follow.

I always find myself regretting certain picks when it comes to a fantasy draft. I am very happy with this roster. My only issue is that I have an old defense core.

Re: A New Face Out West (NHL 13 Be a GM)

Price and the Huskies Denies Stars Late Push, Move to 2-0

The Boise Huskies fresh off a win in their first ever NHL game travel down to Dallas to take on the Stars in the 2nd half of their home and home series to start off their season. The Stars played well in the first meeting but got far too aggressive in the later periods and ended up losing the game due to poor special teams. They came into this one looking to make sure they did not do that to themselves again.

The first period was being dominated by the Huskies but could not find a way to solve Bernier in the first 10 minutes of the game. In fact they found themselves down 1-0 after Mike Knuble had a beautiful redirection that beat Price 5-hole before he knew where the puck was. The Huskies would not be down for long though as Matt Cooke caught the Stars sleeping and burned Chris Tanev and blew a slap shot through Bernier to tie the game at 1 just past the halfway mark of the first. The Stars gained some momentum after a decent powerplay to end the first period.

Penalties would once again hurt the Stars. Only 2 minutes into the 2nd they took a lazy penalty in the offensive zone and Andrei Markov was able to fire one past Bernier from the point during the delayed penalty. The extra attacker proved useful once again. Even if it wasn't a true powerplay just yet. The rest of the 2nd period was back and forth with neither team able to gain a significant edge after the goal. The Huskies had a strong penalty kill about 12 min into the period and that would prove to be the only momentum swing in the period. The Huskies had a bit of a flurry in the final minute of the period but it was stopped by Bernier. After 2 it was 2-1 Boise.

Just like in the 2nd period the Huskies were the beneficiary of a costly Dallas turnover. A pass back to the defense in the neutral zone was intercepted by Huberdeau and he took it in and sniper Bernier 5-hole to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead only a minute and half into the 3rd. The Stars however would answer back quickly as Ryan Clowe bounced one in off of Price just 2 minutes later to make the deficit only 1 goal again. But for Dallas that is as close as they would come in this one. Price was solid down the stretch in the 3rd as the Stars took over the game. He kept them off the board and secured the Huskies 2nd victory of the season.

Up next for the Boise Huskies are the Calgary Flames.
