The first game of the season ended well. It was a hardfought match between St.Louis and Nashville. Morrow had an excellent start for his new team. Rookies Jones and Jansen both had a point in their first NHL game. Everybody contributed and we earned the win together.

P.Rinne (NSH) 11 shots, 9 saves, sv% .818, GAA 3.26
S.Varlamov (COL) 31 shots, 31 saves, sv% 1.000, GAA 0.00 (shut out)

-Game Stats-
NSH vs COL
31 shots 29
29 hits 15
6:45 time on attack 5:14
44:00 penalty minutes 33:00
0/3 powerplays 2/4
16 face-offs 20

After 5 minutes Mike Fisher got a major penalty for checking from behind. He also got into a fight which he won. But worst of all, he got a game misconduct. In the following 5 penalty minutes Colorado scored twice and the game was virtually played. Two fast goals in the 2nd period sealed the deal. A horrible debut for Theodore in the Nashville net. McKinnon scored his first of probably many NHL goals.

We came into this game to make up foir the wash out against Colorado. We did alright the 1st period, but after half a minute David Legwand put the puck in his own net. This broke our spirits and Minnesota owned us in the 2nd period. We have to be better (And I have to be better at NHL14).

10 october 2013: Toronto Maple Leafs (2-2-0) @ Nashville Predators (1-2-0)
2 - 0 L (Rinne) no game data

On the 10th we signed free agent:
#21 RW Anthony Stewart (75, PWF, 3W) 2 Years for $0.760M

As a result of this signing we put Gaustad, Nystrom and Smith on the trading block. Nystrom became expendable and Gaustad/Smith have big contracts. Those 2 were put on the block as trade bait. One day later Columbus called us and they offered us a trade. Craig Smith and a 2nd round draftpick for a 1st and 3rd round draftpick. We negotiated with CBJ and came to the following trade:

acquire

center Craig Smith (82, TWF, 4R)

acquire

left wing Kerby Rychel (61, PWF, 5½R) unsigned 1st round pick 2013, and
a 2014 - 2nd round draftpick (CBJ)

We changed our roster and line up. The line up changes where a result of the trade/signing, but also the bad results. (In the next post I will give you the new lines)

12 october 2013: New York Islanders (3-1-0) @ Nashville Predators (1-3-0)
2 - 4 W (Rinne) no game data

Tough First few games there. Rinne, Fisher, and Legwand need to step up their game for you. Especially Rinne, 9 goals in two games come on man. O well I believe you can turn it around and make the playoffs.

Thanks i agree. Rinne needs to be better. But my defensive lapses give Rinne a lot of work though.

Pekka Rinne was stellar in goal. Our defense wasn't giving it away this time. And we got some offense up front. This is how would like to play and win our games.
