The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired prospect defenseman Jake McCabe from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Fabrice Herzog and a 2014 3rd Round pick. McCabe recently served as the captain for Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championships, and recorded 25 points in 36 games for the University of Wisconsin.
Phil Kessel netted a two goal game and the Toronto Maple Leafs took down the Philadelphia Flyers on the road.
James Reimer was solid in net, making 36 saves on the night to backstop the Maple Leafs to a win. He got support from Joffrey Lupul and Dion Phaneuf, who both scored once to add to Kessel's two goals to drive the Leafs to victory.
Jakub Voracek answered in the second period for the Flyers, as he tucked one past Reimer on a break away sprung by Nicholas Grossman and Luke Schenn, who both picked up assists on the play.
Cogliano Nets Overtime Winner As Ducks Drown Leafs
Jonas Hiller backstopped the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-3 overtime victory, making 40 saves out of 43 shots to keep the Ducks in the game.
Emerson Etem scored twice for the victorious Ducks, who got the game winning goal off the stick of speedy forward Andrew Cogliano, his second goal of the season.
The Leafs answered back with a power play goal from James Van Riemsdyk and goals from Jake Gardiner and Joffrey Lupul.
Jonathan Bernier stood tall in goal for the Leafs, making 28 saves on 32 shots, letting the last one slip just behind him, enough to cost him and the Leafs the game.
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis has announced in a press conference that the Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired offensive defenseman Brian Campbell from the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers will receive defensemen Tim Gleason and Carl Gunnarsson, along with a third round pick in 2014 and 2015.
In addition to Campbell, the Leafs will also receive prospect winger Joe Basaraba.
Campbell is expected to be in uniform for the Maple Leafs' game tonight against the Boston Bruins.
After being knocked out of the first round of the playoffs last year in a game seven collapse that can only be described by "epic" and "fail", the Maple Leafs exacted their revenge against their rival Bruins in front of their hometown fans 5-2.
Phil Kessel opened the scoring for the Maple Leafs, and was followed by a power play goal from Tyler Bozak and even strength goals from Carter Ashton, Jay McClement and Dave Bolland.
The Maple Leafs offense relentlessly peppered Bruins netminder Tuuka Rask with 46 shots in the win.
