Flyers Get Early Season Revenge on Rangers
Mason Saves The Shot Attempt by Derek Stepan
Last year the Rangers knocked off the Flyers in the seven games of the Eastern Quarterfinals in an extremely close series with the finale being a 2-1 victory. Last night was no different as a late Rick Nash goal forced overtime, but the Flyers managed to win in a shootout thanks to a Wayne Simmonds' goal in the shootout and a strong performance by Steve Mason. Rick Nash started things off for the Rangers on the powerplay as he found some open space in the slot and fired a rocket past Mason. WIth a minute left in the 1st, Claude Giroux managed to beat Henrik Lundqvist, but Derrick Brassard took advantage of an over zealous defense and scored seconds later. Lecavalier tied it after some tic-tac-toe passing from the Flyers then Voracek gave the lead early in the 3rd before Rick Nash scored his 2nd of the night to tie it with 6 minutes left.
