San Jose Sharks (12-2-1) @ Phoenix Coyotes (6-4-2)

Sunday November 9,2008
Phoenix,AZ
Jobing.com Arena

PREVIEW

Phoenix,AZ- The Sharks will meet the Coyotes sunday night in Phoenix as the 6-4-2 Coyotes will try to stop the red hot Sharks that have won 8 games in a row. The Sharks coming off a 4-0 shutout victory over the Stars last night will take that momentum on the road tonight in Arizona.
This marks the first time this season the two Pacific Division Rivals meet. The Coyotes have a little momentum of their own coming off a 4-3 victory over Florida.
The Sharks rocking a 8 game win streak show no signs of slowing down even dropping some deadweight in Evgeni Nabokov being sent down to the Minors in favor of Dimitri Patzold to sit behind the new face of San Jose, Brian Boucher who since stepping into replace Nabokov, the Sharks are heavy favorites to win the Stanley Cup Finals with great goaltending by Boucher.
But back to tonight, the Coyotes off a 4-3 victory over the Panthers will look to build on the momentum and carry it over into the showdown with the red hot Sharks. The Sharks are looking to win their 9th straight game tonight if they knock off the slow start 6-4-2 Coyotes.

"It's just another game that we need to stay focus on. One day at a time." Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau stated.

"We're aware of their playing and streaks. But they haven't faced us yet this year. They're in our den tonight and can't count us out yet." Coyotes Captain star Shane Doan stated.

"We'll be ready for them tonight. We're aware of how good they are." Coyotes Mike Morris stated.

The Sharks and Coyotes are ready for a win here tonight.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR

-Sharks on a 8 game winning streak

-Coyotes off a victory

-Division Rivals, gloves will be dropped tonight.

-Boucher continues to play LIGHTS OUT in the net.

Coyotes Upset Sharks 4-3! Snap 8 game winning streak!

Sunday November 9,2008

RECAP

Phoenix,AZ- The 8 game winning streak that the Sharks had coming into the game tonight has officially ended at the hands of the Coyotes who upset their Division Rivals 4-3. The Coyotes defeated the Sharks tonight at the Jobing.com Arena keeping San Jose off guard the whole game. However nobody seemed to be more disappointed than Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau after the game.

"We wanted this win tonight. It's a tough loss for us and we really wanted this win tonight. We're trying to give this team a Championship and we can't do it with tough losses like that."

"It was a tough pill to swallow watching those last seconds tick by and you're behind on the scoreboard." Sharks Alternate Joe Thornton said.

"We enjoyed the streak as it lasted. I mean 8 games is a lot." Sharks Alternate Johnathan Cheechoo said.

For the Coyotes, victory couldn't be sweeter.

"It's our den. Tonight they learned first hand how good we can be." Coyotes Alternate Derek Morris stated.

"San Jose is a great team and all respect to them, we wanted this win more." Coyotes Captain Shane Doan stated.

The Coyotes move to 7-4-2 and have more momentum with them to make a playoff run. But the Sharks with the loss are still leading the Conference at 12-3-1.

The Sharks will swallow this loss tonight and head to Nashville on Tuesday with a battle with the Predators.

Nashville,TN- After having their winning streak snapped at the hands of the Coyotes, the Sharks look to rebound on that loss with a win tonight in Nashville. Predators beat Sharks 2-1 in Nashville! Sharks lose #1 Western Conference spot.

Tuesday November 11,2008

RECAP

Nashville,TN- Another upset loss for the Sharks tonight against Jordin Tootoo and the Nashville Predators. From the opening puck drop, the Preds were in full control hammering the Sharks with hits and getting physical all night. The San Jose Sharks looked as if they were in a dream.
The Predators took control of the game after the Sharks appeared to have never played hockey before.

"It was a tough loss. It just wasn't our night." Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan stated after the loss.

"I have no idea what happened. It was like we went from a hockey team to a bunch of kids with sticks." Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau said.

The Sharks after having their 8 game winning streak snapped on Sunday night by the Coyotes will be forced to swallow another pill by the hands of the Predators.

With this loss, the Sharks have lost the #1 spot in the Western Conference as the now red hot Calgary Flames have stepped up to grab the #1 spot in the Western.

"Losing is never a good feeling. Nashville deserves all the credit." Sharks Alternate Joe Thornton stated.

Flames beat Sharks 6-4 to secure #1 Spot in Western Conference. Sharks drop 3 straight.

Thursday November 13,2008

RECAP

San Jose,CA- In a wild night of nonstop hockey to determine the "Top Dogs" of the Western Conference right now. The Flames defeated the Sharks 6-4 in a crazy all out war.
The Flames came into the Shark Tank definetly with something to prove tonight. The Flames pulled out all the stops as the Sharks dropped their 3rd straight loss thanks to miscommunication and a great gameplan around Brian Boucher who couldn't seem to save a goal to save his life.

"Boucher is not the reason we lost. We play as a team, we win as a team and tonight, we lost as a team. Boucher is still our Goalie going forward." Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan stated.

"It just sucks that I fell into this little slump and teams know how to beat me now. I no longer have the element of surprise." Joked Boucher with a smile.

The Flames hang on to the win and still remain the #1 Team in the Western Conference but theres still a long season left.

The Sharks have now dropped 3 straight and will look for answers over the next couple days before heading to Chicago next week.
