Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

October 9 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 2 (1-0-0) @ Detroit Red Wings 5 (0-0-0)

The Leafs gave up four first period goals and could not make up the deficit in losing 5-2 to the Wings in Babcocks return to Detroit. Justin Abdelkader stepped up big for Detroit with a 3 point game.

October 10 2015
Ottawa Senators 1 (0-1-0) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 0 (1-1-0)

There was a huge defensive battle in Toronto as it took a single 3rd period goal by former leaf Clarke Macarthur to give the Senators the 1-0 win over the Leafs.

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier looked great in his season debut stopping 22 of 23 shots.

Nick Foligno played a huge role in the Blue Jackets game getting 1 goal and 2 assists in the 3-2 win over Toronto, goaltender Bobrovsky was also huge stopping 34 of 36 shots.

October 17 2015

A close game all night it took a late 3rd period goal by P. Hornqvist to give the Pens the 2-1 win over Toronto. Former Leaf star Phil Kessel also had an assist on the winning goal.

Marc Andre Fleury also had a great night in the crease stopping 31 of 32 shots to carry the Pens to the close victory.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

October 21st 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 3 (1-4-0) @ Buffalo Sabres 2 (4-1-0)

The Leafs finally got back on the winning side of things in Buffalo taking down the Sabres in a shootout with Morgan Rielly getting the deciding goal.

Jonathan Bernier had a solid night in the net stopping 30 of 32 to help the Leafs get their 2nd win of the year.

October 24th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 0 (2-4-0) @ Montreal Canadians 4 (3-5-0)

A Saturday night game between the Leafs and Habs is always an interesting night but on this night the Canadians took control and got the 4-0 win over the long time rivals.

Goaltender Mike Condon stopped all 32 shots for the shutout and captain Max Pacioretty helped lead his team to the win with a goal and an assist.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

October 26th 2015
Arizona Coyotes 3 (2-4-2) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 2 (2-5-0)

The Coyotes and Leafs went to overtime where defenseman O. Ekman-Larsson scored his 2nd of the game just 24 seconds in to give his Coyotes the 3-2 win in Toronto.

Coach Babcock was obviously upset with his teams performance going 0-5 on the Power Play at home.

October 30th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 4 (2-5-1) @ New York Rangers 3 (5-4-1)

The Leafs had another game go into extra time, this time going all the way to a shootout where James Van Riemsdyk scored the only goal to give the Leafs the 4-3 win over the Rangers.

Toronto seemed to have urgency in their play as they fired 44 shots on net really testing New York backup Antti Raanta who stopped 41.

October 31st
Pittsburgh Penguins 4 (8-1-1) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (3-5-1)

A scoreless game going into the 3rd period did not stay that way as the Pens tallied 3 goals in the first 6 minutes and went on to beat the Leafs 4-1 at the ACC.

Patric Hornqvist and Trevor Daley came up big each with 3 points in the game, while former Leaf Phil Kessel did not
register a point. Leo Komarov scored the only response from the Leafs.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

OCTOBER RECAP

After the first month of the season the Toronto Maple Leafs are showing that they truly are a team in need of a lot of growth and improvement.

Record - 3-6-1

Ranking

Division 7th
Conference 15th
League 28th

Goals Per Game - 1.50 (30th)
Goals Against Per Game 2.70 (15th)
Powerplay 8.3% (30th)
Penalty Kill 78.9% (20th)

Team Leaders

Goals J. Van Riemsdyk - 3

Assists J. Lupul - 4

Plus/Minus P. Holland - +1

Penalty Minutes D. Phaneuf - 16

Wins J. Reimer - 2

Biggest Surprise

The biggest surprise after the first month of the season for the Leafs franchise is winger Jeremy Morin currently in the AHL. The 24 year old has 13 points in 10 games with a couple game winners, continuing this play may force the team to let him test the NHL this year.

Biggest Disappointment

Defenceman Morgan Reilly who coach Babcock and others in the organization expected a big step forward from is definitely struggling to start the year. After the first 10 games Reilly has only one assist and is a minus 5.

Rumors are already flying all over this team of possible moves to bring in younger players, and potentially some call ups early this season. Time will tell if the organization gives this group some more time, or decides to shake things up quick.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

November 2nd 2015
Dallas Stars 3 (6-4-1) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 6 (3-6-1)

The Toronto Maple Leafs started the month of November in a positive way, going down 2-0 in the 2nd the Leafs rallied back to beat the stars 6-3 at home.

Winger Michael Grabner had a big night for the Leafs with a goal and 3 assists, while Nazem Kadri had a couple of points too.

November 4th 2015
Winnipeg Jets 4 (3-9-0) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 3 (4-6-1)

Going into the 3rd with a 3-2 lead the Leafs could not hold on coughing up two late goals and losing to the Jets 4-3.

The Jets got help from a not so predictable source as Mathieu Perreault played the role of set up man with 3 assists including assisting on both 3rd period goals.

November 6th 2015
Detroit Red Wings 2 (6-3-3) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 3 (4-7-1)

Going down 2-0 in the first period was not enough to shut down the Leafs who rallied back to tie the game in the 2nd, and went on to win the game in a shootout with Lupul scoring the only shootout goal.

Goaltender James Reimer had a solid night in net stopping 29-31 in regulation and overtime, and being perfect in the shootout.

The Leafs did get some bad news as James Van Riemsdyk will miss the next week with a reported sore foot. Which means Mark Arcobello will draw into the lineup for the first time this season.

November 7th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (5-7-1) @ Washington Capitals 3 (5-6-1)

Tied going into the 3rd period the Leafs could not get the job done as the Capitals scored the go ahead goal early in the 3rd and added one more late to take the game 3-1.

Caps goaltender Philipp Grubauer had a solid performance stopping 24 of 25 shots for the win.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

November 10th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 3 (5-8-1) @ Dallas Stars 2 (9-5-1)

The Leafs gave up the first goal early in the 2nd period but responded with 3 straight and held off the Stars to leave Dallas with the 3-2 win.

Stars forward Tyler Seguin shined again scoring both goals for the Stars, while Goaltender James Reimer stopped 27 of 29 shots for the win.

After the game the Leafs announced D-man Morgan Rielly will miss the next week with a concussion. Which means 23 year old Martin Marincin will make his season debut in the teams next game.

However the Leafs do have some good news as James Van Riemsdyk will return next game.

November 12th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 4 (6-8-1) @ Nashville Predators 2 (5-7-2)

Tied at 2-2 going into the final frame, the Leafs got goals from their top 2 lines to walk out of Nashville with the regulation win.

Returning forward James Van Riemsdyk had a nice return with a pair of goals and an assist. And goaltender James Reimer had another solid performance stopping 29 of 31 shots.

November 14th 2015
Vancouver Canucks 0 (11-6-0) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 3 (7-8-1)

Toronto returned home and continued their winning ways, getting contributions from multiple players and getting a great night in goal to shutout the Canucks at home.

Forwards Bozak and Grabner each got a pair of points in the game, and James Reimer stopped all 29 shots to earn a well deserved shutout to get the Leafs their 3rd straight victory.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Dynasty

November 15th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 0 (8-8-1) @ New York Rangers 1 (7-8-2)

The Maple Leafs and Rangers played a scoreless game into overtime until Derek Stepan scored with 14 seconds left to give his Rangers the 1-0 win.

Both goalies in this game played great, the Rangers Raanta stopping 26 of 26 shots for the shutout, and Toronto's Reimer stopping 38 of 39 in a losing effort.

November 17th 2015
Colorado Avalanche 1 (6-11-0) @ Toronto Maple Leafs 2 (8-8-2)

A busy first period saw the Leafs take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, however that was all this game had offensively as the Leafs held on for the 2-1 win at home.

Leafs goaltender James Reimer continued his solid play stopping 24 of 25 shots to earn the W.

November 20th 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 2 (9-8-2) @ Carolina Hurricanes 5 (10-3-5)

The Leafs defensive play as of late had been great but the Hurricanes seemed to figure things out scoring 3 in the first and adding 2 more in the 3rd to take the 5-2 win.

Jordan Staal was the standout of the game scoring the eventual game winner and adding 2 assists to help the 'Canes win.

November 21st 2015
Toronto Maple Leafs 1 (9-9-2) @ Boston Bruins 4 (9-7-2)

The Leafs and Bruins were tied 1-1 halfway through the 3rd period but the Bruins turned things up late scoring 3 late goals to take the 4-1 win at home.

The Bruins got help from a couple key players as Brad Marchand scored a pair of goals, and goaltender Tuuka Rask stopped 37 of 38 shots.
