TORONTO LOOK TO FREE AGENCY TO FIND KEY PIECES

After a disappointing season that saw Toronto finish last, the Leafs had a busy draft picking a bunch of young men hoping they will help lead this team into the future.

But now we turn to free agency to see if the Leafs can sign any players to help them get this rebuild going. With $17.5 million dollars to spend, we will have to wait and see if the Leafs look for quality or quantity this summer.

2016 FREE AGENT FRENZY

After a season that saw them finish last, and get the 1st overall draft pick, the Toronto Maple Leafs go into free agency with a lot of money to spend and a lot of needs to fill.

However, nobody really knows what young GM Kyle Dubas and the rest of the Leafs brass is going to try to pull off this summer. Will they sign more young guys to build the future? Will they sign guys to try and mentor the youth? Will they pull off trades to speed up the process? Only time will tell

LEAFS AND SHARKS MAKE OFFSEASON DEAL

Early morning rumblings of a deal in the works quickly turned into rumours of a significant deal between San Jose and Toronto.

Those rumours quickly came true as we saw the Toronto Maple leafs add more depth down the middle:

Tomas Hertl

Tomas Hertl is 22 years old a former 1st round pick in 2012, and could be that #1 center that the Leafs need, still on a very friendly contract making $2.975 million over the next three years, Hertl had 22 Goals and 41 Points in 82 games last year.

TORONTO SURPRISES EVERYONE WITH THEIR OPENING NIGHT ROSTER ANNOUNCEMENT

With the acquisition of Tomas Hertl, and returning Nazem Kadri it appears the leafs will take a patient approach with top draft pick Auston Matthews as he will start the 2016/2017 season on the Marlies.
