Lots of questions as the Spartans look to upgrade offensively
Less than 24 hours after their season opener, the Spartans front office is continuing to search for ways to upgrade their roster.
With a wealth of future draft picks, GM George Parros is scouring the market for young, controllable talent, without mortgaging the teams future.
TSN recently released their annual pre-season trade block, and if controllable talent is what the team is looking for, it could be tough sledding.
Among the names that are said to be available, Ottawa's Mark Stone and Matt Duchene check off a lot of boxes (though both are UFA's after the 2019 season).
The Penguins are looking to upgrade on the point and have reportedly made Phil Kessel "loosely" available. Would Jared Spurgeon move the needle in Seattle's direction, or is the team invested in him being a big part of their future?
Players like Anaheim's Corey Perry is looking for a bounce back season after two straight years as a sub 20 goal scorer. Ottawa's Bobby Ryan also fills the mold of players that are overpaid and have grossly under-produced. Would either be worth picking up as bounce back candidates?
With an extension likely for Erik Karlsson in San Jose, will they be able to keep their core together? Can Parros pry a Logan Couture or Joe Pavelski from the Sharks?
If Columbus gets off to a slow start, would a player like Artemi Panerin be willing to sign an extension in Seattle?
Would the Leafs be interested in moving a core piece to pick up a top pairing defencemen and potentially more assets? William Nylander or Mitch Marner would look awfully good in green...
More questions than answers in Seattle right now, and we're only one day into the season.
