No Standout Performances in Preseason, team goes 1-4-2

Bubba O'Neill: The Kids may not be alright. A rather poor performance in the preseason saw the team go. 1-4-2, their lone win being a 1-0 shutout win courtesy of Kasimir Kaskisuo, versus the Florida Panthers.

The team mustered just 12 goals in 7 games, tying with Carolina & Florida for 3rd least in goals for in the league.20191212_154202.jpeg20191212_154223.jpeg20191212_154236.jpeg20191212_154251.jpeg20191212_154300.jpeg

Re: Stand Witness (NHL19)

Marlies giftwrap expansion team Hawaii Islanders their 1st win of franchise history

Bubba O'Neill: Keep your sticks to yourselves boys. 8 straight penalties to end the 2nd period and 1 to start the 3rd proved to be too much for the penalty killers, after former Marlie Kale Kossila scores with 25 seconds left in the last penalty.

Prior to that, of the 9 penalties issued all but 1 was either tripping or hooking.

In addition, 2 other penalties, including one taken in the final minute of the 3rd, negating any effective change to recover, were also tripping penalties.

Goal Scorers:

1st Period:

TOR C Frederik Gauthier (SHG)

2nd Period:

HWI LW Nathan Gerbe

3rd Period:

HWI LW Kale Kossila (PPG)

First Star:

TOR Kasimir Kaskisuo
53 Shots Against, 51 Saves

Second Star:

HWI Jake Allen
30 Shots Against, 29 Saves

3rd Star:

TOR Frederick Gauthier
1 Goal

Re: Stand Witness (NHL19)

Leafs losing streak continues

Bubba O'Neill: On the same day that the Marlies lost to Hawaii, the Toronto Maple Leafs blew a tire versus rival Montreal Canadiens.

Mike Smith had a shaky night in net, allowing 4 goals on 18 shots before being yanked. Frederick Andersen came in, and although he allowed one more goal, he saved 19 of 20 shots in an attempt to spark a comeback, an eventual futile effort.

Captain John Tavares got ejected for a Checking From Behind Major with just under 7 minutes left. Noah Juulsen accosted him after the hit but ended up losing the ensuing fight. Unfortunately, the Habs would score against Frederick Andersen once on the ensuing powerplay.
