Re: Eye of the U- All things Miami Hurricane Football
2025 Season Preview
Offence Junior Quinton Boyd will begin his second season as a full time starter after having a stellar sophomore compaign after taking over the starting halfway through his true freshman year. Gone will be Boyd's biggest weapons, TE Leon Malone, and dynamite HB Daniel Martin but the Canes will bring back 4 solid solid speedsters at the WR position. The coaching staff will have their work cut out for them this spring deciding on a HB. The O-Line will be young, but full of potential, consisting of 4 freshman and 1 senior calling the shots from the Center position. Coach Bobby Bell has all of the O-Lineman rooming together to hopefully form a bond among them. Defence The Canes defense should be solid once again while returning 8 starters. Athleticism is on the upswing after poor recruiting with the previous coaching staff. Look for the 2025 Hurricanes squad to be in the hunt for the SEC title game. Re: Eye of the U- All things Miami Hurricane Football
2025 Recruiting Kyle Tucker#202 ( #7 T) **** OVR:77(+3) 6'6 314 LBS Lancaster, OH Tucker follows a large group of very talented OL recruits from last year, which means early playing time more than likely wont be in the mix for him. Tucker will add great depth for the future and ease up recruiting for the coaching staff. Tucker also had offers from Cincinati, Temple, and Ohio State. Anthony Bowling #1370 ( #79 ATH) *** OVR:81(+8) JuCo 5'11 212 LBS Piedmont, SC Bowling doesn't have the speed(89/86) to be a bell cow running back, or the size to be a go to WR, but he will fill in for depth at one of the two. The coaching staff has also kicked around the idea of putting him on defense and play primarly special teams. Bowling will be an enroll early and use spring ball to hopefully find a position where he can make an impact in the future. Miami was his only D1 offer. Jeremy Wesly #287 ( #7 SS) **** OVR:79(+6) 6'0 196 LBS Wolf Trap, VA Wesly comes in at a great position of need for the future. On paper, it looks like he will redshirt and then have the chance to be a 4 year starter. It will be hard for the coaching staff to keep his redshirt on next year instead of playing SS#2. Wesly will be unable to enroll early as he must attend summer school to gain eligibility. Once Wesly gets on the field he should be a force with his good speed (89/88) and great tackling ability. Jared Beach #79 ( #25 ATH) **** OVR: 73 6'0 183 LBS Speedway, IN Beach was a two way player in High School, playing both FS and HB. On paper FS is pretty deep and HB in an area of need but once again, spring ball will decide where Beach lands up. He has good but not great speed(92/90) for a HB in the Miami offence. Anthony Wilson #630 ( #46 DT) *** OVR: 69(+1) 6'4 292 LBS Colonial Heights, VA Nothing flashy about Wilson, he will redshirt and be a rotational player in the future. Jeff Perry #1117 ( #60 T) *** OVR:69 (+3) 6'6 303 LBS Hanahan, SC Perry comes in behind one of the best OL classes in the history of college football. He knows his role will be to redshirt and play backup for a majority of his time in Miami, with the possibility to earn a starting spot towards the end of his career. Also had offers from Nebraska and Georgia. Aaron Parks #674 ( #35 TE) *** OVR:69 (+1) 6'4 239 LBS Elwood, IN Parks will be a prime canidate to switch to fullback during spring ball depending on the rest of the recruiting class. Also had offers from Fresno State and Purdue. Tony Perry #253 ( #23 DE) **** OVR:78 (+6) 6'3 242 LBS Winnsboro, LA DE was a giant possition of need for the future of the Miami program. There is depth at DE but no stars coming up the ranks. Perry is penciled in to redshirt and become a 4 year starter. Perry has decent quickness but his best ability is getting off of blockers and having a nose for the ball. Wade Murray #385 ( #1 K) *** OVR: 85(-1) 6'0 187 LBS Fort Wayne, IN The kicker/punter position is young and full, but that didn't stop the coaching staff from going out and getting the #1 Kicker in the country. Murray has quite the leg(96 power) but may take a redshirt to work on his accuracy(77). Joe Young #78 ( #5 DT) **** OVR: 78(+2) 6'1 262 LBS Defiance, OH DT was a giant position of need coming in to the season. Signing Young was a huge sigh of relief for the future of the D-Line. Will, likely redshirt and step in to a starting role. Young also had offers from Florida State, Eastern Michigan, and Michigan. Young commented that his main reasons for signing with Miami was that he wanted to play in the best conference and play for titles. Michael Green #205 ( #26 WR) **** OVR:73 (+3) 6'0 193 LBS Carson City, NV Green was a late under the radar find out of Nevada. The speedy WR will be a key part to the future depth of the WR core. He may not ever be the #1 target on the team, but with how Miami tosses the ball around, there will be plenty of balls for Green to catch in the future. Miami was Green's only D1 offer. Re: Eye of the U- All things Miami Hurricane Football
2026 Season Preview Offence The Hurricanes have their eyes set on the championship in 2026. 9 starters return. 1 of the new starters will be 5 start true freshman TE Jermaine Anderson. When the Hurricanes made their last title run, they had explosive TE Leon Malone. Look for the Hurricanes to be pass happy once again as the RB position will be in question between power back Alex Evans and speedster Nick Vincent. The offensive line should be much improved as the 5 freshman have had a year to grow together. In the end, the offence will be on the arm of AA quarterback and 4 year starter Quinton Boyd. The team really struggled last season when Boyd went down. Defence 6 starters return on defence for 2026. Look for junior John Barrett be leading the defence from his MLB position. The biggest position of question will be at SS between true freshman Jeremy Wesley and junior Perry Reid. Reid has an early lead in camp, but Wesley's athleticism will be hard to keep off the field. Senior Jordan Franklin will be moving from OLB to DE and try to utilize his speed off the edge. Recruiting The Hurricanes finally have depth at most positions so look for this class to be a bit smallter but with higher end talent. The main focus will be finding an All-star running back |

Re: Eye of the U- All things Miami Hurricane Football
Rob Gallagher #185 ( #11 CB) **** OVR:79 (+5) 5'11 185 lbs Dunwoody, GA The Hurricanes were forced to burn some redshirts at CB in the past in order to compete with the league, this has caused a large need at the CB position in the neer future. The signing of Gallagher solidifies the future of the position with hopefully a few more to come and they will all hopefully redshirt. Gallagher has blazing speed(95/93) to go along with amazing coverage skills (85/84/81) for a recruit. Most would think that he would be a pure coverage corner with those skills, but Gallagher has a nose for contact and will fit in nice as a nickel corner. Rashad Payne #335 ( #15 CB) *** OVR:79 (+8) 5'11 182 Lbs Richland Hills, TX Another good CB for the future. Was highly overlooked due to an injury at the beginning of his Junior year of High School. Great coverage skills (88/84/81) and very good speed (92/90). Will likely play out the outside after his redshirt year. Miami was the only D1 offer for Payne. Fred Arrington #133 ( #5 CB) **** OVR:78 (+3) 5'10 183 LBS Broken Bow, NE Coming from a small town in the middle of nowhere, Arrington has never had much competition in sports, but the kid is a winner. Arrington was a 4 year starter in football, basketball and ran 6 years of varsity track. In total, he was a 6 time state champion accross all sports. Arrington likes to hit and has good coverage skills (81/89/81) to go along with good speed (92/93). He will redshirt and then be fighting with his felow recruits for a starting spot after his redshirt year. Arrington also had an offer from Florida State. Kenny Curry #243 ( #18 DE) **** OVR:79 (+6) 6'4 240 Lbs West Orange, NJ Curry has the potential to be one of the greats. Has a great first step off the ball and a nastiness that can't be taught. Curry's first passion was basketball but soon realized that he didn't have the body type for the NBA when he stopped growing at 6'4 in 10th grade. Once he started putting his focus on football, many scouting services had overlooked him as a top end talent. Curry drew one other offer from Michigan State. Matt Cox #752 ( #72 ATH) *** OVR:70 (+5) 6'1 226 Lbs Pine Hills, FL Sad to say, but nothing real special with Cox, average size and speed. Not real sure where he will play. Primarly signed due to his head coach and the Miami AD being old buddies. Miami was the only offer for Cox. Stephen Brown #42 ( #18 ATH) ***** OVR:73 (-2) 6'1 197 Lbs Elba, AL Brown let his 5 star rating get to his head after his Junior year of high school and his rating has followed. Brown will either need to get tougher to play RB or work on his hands to play WR. Has great top end speed (95) and will hopefully be a home run hitter in the future. Miami was the only offer for Brown. Matt Edwards #543 ( #30 OLB) *** OVR:70 5'11 211 Lbs La Mesa, CA A little slow(77/79) for OLB and a little undersized to move to DE. Will add depth to the LB crew and possibly see some playing time at LOLB as a Junior or Senior. Tony Pittman #945 ( #67 CB) *** OVR:70 (+5) 5'9 190 Lbs Eastlake, OH Pittman was initially overlooked following his junior year of HS due to his size, but he hit the weightroom hard and bulked up. Will be a career special teams guy, possibly moving into the dime role as a senior. Also had an offer from Notre Dame. Kenny James #944 ( #63 MLB) *** OVR:70 (+5) 5'11 221 Lbs Cullowhee, NC Another one who was overlooked due to size, but James has the speed(85/80) to make up for it. Will be a key special teams player moving forward. Steve Parker #256 ( #16 MLB) **** OVR:76 (+4) 5'11 218 Lbs Morton, MS Another undersized LB with great speed(84/88) joins the team. Will redshirt next season and is then penciled in as a starter for the next 4 years. Brent Robinson #267 ( #13 OLB) **** OVR:69 (-2) 6'5 230 LBS West Hattiesburg, MS Robinson is a prime canidate to be moved to DE in the future. Will be a key special teams player. Ryan Pope #2333 ( #38 FB) * OVR:67 (+4) 6'2 237 LBS Falls City, NE Vince Blanco #92 (#4 G) **** OVR:82 (+5) 6'1 316 LBS Estelle, LA Most kids of this caliber would never be looking at much time on the bench, but unluckily for Blanco, he may have to spend a year or 2 as a reserve. NFL scouts are drooling over his athleticism and nasty streak. Ryan Rooney #1278 (#39 FS) *** OVR:68 (+3) 6'1 179 LBS Blacksburg, VA Depth signing. Will contribute to special teams and as a reserve after redshirt year. Matt Doyle #928 (#60 QB) *** OVR:70 (+6) 6'2 207 LBS Rendon, TX Career backup. Will primarly be used to recruit others from Texas. Luke Hardy #72 (#23 ATH) **** OVR:72 (-1) 6'1 207 LBS Alliance, NE Could play HB or WR, will more than likely take his speed (95/88) to the WR position as the WR core is in much need of more athletes and top end speed. Eric Diggs #57 (#4DE) **** OVR:81 (+4) 6'2 237 LBS Miami Lakes, FL Diggs could possibly have his redshirt pulled early. Luckily for the coaching staff he will be an early enrollee so they have more time to decide. Cedric Boyd #89 (#26 ATH) **** OVR:77 (+4) 6'1 196 LBS Gardere, LA Boyd was a late addition to the roster as a preferred walk-on. Michigan State and Navy were after him hard but Boyd decided he didn't want to play in the cold. It may also help that he is the younger brother of Quinton Boyd who graduated last season after demolishing every Hurricane passing record. Cedric wont be a 4 year starter like his older brother but is slated to find the field as a sophomore. Overall Miami ranked #6 in the country for recruiting. Signing 21 which included 1 Five star and 9 Four stars. Last edited by walter323; 02-15-2019 at 08:50 AM. |

Re: Eye of the U- All things Miami Hurricane Football
2027 Preview Offence: The offence is going to look a little different this year with 4 year starting QB Quinton Boyd graduating, along with last years top 2 WR's in Butler and McDougal. Brent Thurman will step in to lead the Offence from the QB position. Thurman was forced into action as a true freshman for 5 games and looked solid. Last season Thurman redshirted. He doesn't have the scrambling ability that Boyd did, but makes up for it with his cannon arm(98/88). The runningback position is still up in the air. Senior power back Alex Evans came on strong at the end of last season, but doesn't have the top end speed that the coaches are looking for. Nick Vincent was having a decent start before he got injured. Look for the workload to be split for the first few weeks before the coaching staff makes a decision. Freshman Jared Beach is coming off a redshirt year and could also be used as a KR/PR and sprinkled in to the offence. WR won't have the same speed as years before, but Sr(R) Stan Herring returns as the only WR with experience. Miami will be in the hunt for game changers this recruiting season. Jermaine Anderson returns as a game changer at TE. After amassing 1385 yards and 11 TD's, Anderson will once again be the go to guy on offence. For a third year in a row, the same 5 will be starting along the OL(all Juniors). The coaching staff is hoping that their off the field bond will help their play on the field. Defence: The defence returns 7 starters from last season, 3 of the 4 new starters will be along the D-Line.Redshirt Freshman Tony Perry and tru Freshman Eric Diggs are penciled in as starters at DE. Both have great speed off the edge and are great athletes, but they will have a steep learning curve in the ACC. David Russell will step up as the #1 guy at DT after playing as a semi starter last year. Russell will hopefully be joined by Joe Young. Young put his name in the transfer portal last offseason but decided to come back at the last minute. The administration is working hard on getting the proper paper work submitted in order for Young to play. 2x All-American leaves the linebacker core and will be replaced by Sophomore Eric Bradley. 4 year starter John Barrett will be the leader of the group. Barrett will be in charge of gettign the younger 2 up to speed on the playbook. Barrett has great size and speed for a LB, the coaching staff expects him to be the glue that holds the rest of the defence together. All 3 starting CB's return from last season, and all 4 who will play have blazing speed. The coaching staff is expecting more turnovers and coverage sacks this season. Randy Bush finally gets his time to shine at FS after the graduation of 1st Round draft pick and 2x All-American Mike Goss. Bush made it on the field plenty last season in various roles, but he is excited about the chance to show scouts what he can do as a starter. Jeremy Wesley returns after a standout true freshman season at SS. Look for Wesley to take more chances this year. Overall the coaching staff will be counting on the Defence to make big plays this season as the offence may end up being more of a grind it out instead of the big play abilities from seasons past. The #1 focus for recruiting will be finding a top tier game changing runningback. |
