Madden 20 PC won't launch after update

So I've been running it on my laptop win10 since launch. It was fine. Downloaded the 800mb update yesterday and now it won't launch. Just says syncing cloud saves....everything disappears and then instead of the game launching it dumps me back to the Origin launcher again. No errors...nothing. Cannot figure it out.

This happened last year with Madden 19 and it remained broken until the next patch somehow fixed it. I am wondering if there is workaround or something because this seemed to happen to a lot of people last year and someone had to figure it out....right?

In the middle of trying some Origin Cache clearing techniques and just rebooted. If this doesn't work I'll try offline. Thanks.

The clearing of the origin cache didn't help and when I try to play offline it tells me that I can't because of some ID activation isn't in the registry. You know....this is the exact reason I hate PC gaming....even though I love it.

Try turning off cloud saves?

sure way to get it working again is to delete and re install the game

This happened to me with both 19 and 20 (along with other Origin games). A full reinstall didn't help.

The only thing that did work was to right click the Origin shortcut->properties->compatibility tab->check "run this program as an administrator".

Note that any future Origin client update will reset that.

Hopefully that (or something else) works for you.

Well...it magically started working again late last night. I had resigned myself to restoring my PC to a week old system backup for testing. I performed an emergency backup on my system the way it is now, just in case I needed the current state restored. After several hours backing up, and then verifying the backups were good, I tried Madden once last time before I restored backup and it just worked. I don't have any clue what could have caused this.

The only issue I am having now....and it's minor, is that all of my cloud saves aren't appearing anymore on the laptop. I had cleared the origin cache and purged all of the saves in the Madden 20 folder. When it finally launched that first time it mad me play the Pro Bowl and it essentially didn't know I had cloud saves.....even though they are still turned on. I haven't tried my home PC to see if they are still there or not.

So it's working again but this happened after a patch installed. Makes me scared for the next one now. Ugh. PC gaming's ugly under side can be a pain.

OK. So now it's been only 10 hours since I got it working and the Origin launch page is telling me there is an update available. Again. Now I am scared to install the update since the last one caused issues obviously. Is anyone else seeing an update today?

So my laptop updated and it still launches. Great!

My home highend gaming computer updated and now it's no longer launching. What's a guy gotta do to just enjoy a game anymore!??!! Ugh.

10 hours later and I still can't get it to launch. I removed Madden, deleted all cache files, reinstalled, run as admin, run in windows 8 compatibility mode, removed origin, reinstalled origin, repaired Madden, disabled Origin in game overlay, disabled cloud saves. Nothing works. Reinstalled DirectX. Logged onto PC as different user. Followed 5-6 tutorials online to resolve this type of issue with other origin games. I'm getting POed as I paid for this Premiere Access specifically to play it early and I can't get it to launch.

Tried reaching out to EA/Origin Tech support and their site is offline for server issues, no chat support is available and I cannot find a phone number. Just wanna have some fun with a game....is that too much to ask?

Oh...and I am a fulltime IT manager and tech so I know my machine is in prime shape with all updates and drivers. I mean...it couldn't really be that if it was running perfect until the update to Madden got pushed out today.

Anyway....I'm stuck. No game for me.

I assume all your drivers are updated for everything? If not I would start there.

I installed Origin tonight specifically to play this game.

All I get is the start screen with the Chiefs QB on the left and a moving ellipsis on the right. It stays up for maybe two minutes and then the game just disappears and I'm back on the home screen.

I tried repairing the game.

I tried the "run as an administrator" fix.

But no game for me tonight.

Since your version is attempting to launch and shows you the splash screen it must be different issue than mine. I waited 24 hours and tried again and it is working. Origin has some aggressive anti-piracy code that locks you out if you change hardware, logon to too many machines or some combination of both.

In my case the app would just not launch at all....no message or anything. I waited 24 hours and it's good again.

Good luck with your issues. Maybe post your specs?

It only does this for Premier because they don't want people sharing accounts probably, paying $100 a year and having 10 friends playing the game off your account. Granted they would all have to be playing it in offline mode. If you bought the game on Origin it doesn't do that. Sims 4 I own and bought everything for that, but when I subscribed to Premier it kept prompting me to upgrade my version to Premier so I did that, but then my daughter who plays that game sometimes would get locked out if I launched in recently, so I went to uninstall for that game and reverted it back to paid for edition of the game from premier version and it never does that now.

I bought Madden from Best buy digitally and I received the code today. I entered it and apparently i own Madden 20 now. I still have premier until aug 23 so hopefully Madden is done being finicky.
