Just curious why Staubach is rated higher than Morton when Staubach had 42 QB rating vs 89 for Morton?

Will adjust. It's hard to get the ratings correct on some players because even though he was rated 42.9%, he went 2-1 in his starts and had a 53.7% completion rating. Morton had a 49.3% rating, albeit in 8 more starts. Also, in trying to get Staubach to play like he did IRL, I had to rate is agility, speed, break tackle, etc ratings pretty high as he was a scrambler and very elusive. That also pumps up the overall rating I believe.

It's always a give and take with this type of thing, but I will adjust his throw ratings to be a bit less accurate. He did throw 8 Ints in his games.

Do you use a specific formula to get your ratings or do you go by your knowledge of the specific players to get ratings.

I do not use a specific formula...mostly knowledge. I grew up in the 60's and 70's so have fond memories of most of the players.

There is no way to accurately and definitively rate every player anyway. It's a great start but tweaking is required in many cases. Many roster makers have their own method...some use formulas and some don't. I use the rate and test method.

It does get to be silly when you are trying to accurately rate a back up lineman or something like that. Especially with all the fields that Madden has. Most of the time you have just have to apply some assumptions and best guesses to the ratings.

My rosters aren't for everyone...especially because of how I play. I am not looking to replicate exact outcomes from 1970...I'd like for it ot be close..like not having the Eagles go to the Superbowl, but I just get pleasure from using the teams and seeing the names and players again.

I'm a child of the 70's and have so many great memories of football in that era. For me the best part of these classic rosters is seeing these old names again and recalling specific games/moments from that era. The way madden is set up, you cannot get realism for 70's nfl game play/stats. But just watching Broadway Joe vs Johnny U is good enough for me. I thank you and all other classic roster makers on madden, MLB and NBA 2k for all your hard work. It is truly appreciated. I have made several rosters for for the different sports and I know how time consuming it can be. Again... thanks

Thank you for the kind words. And I am right there with you. As the graphics get better and better, it is almost like watching the real thing! And seeing the what ifs like how the 68 Jets might fare against the 78 Steelers is a kick too...for those types of roster sets from last year and before.

It is a brutal process and literally takes me about 3 days off and on to complete a team...and then test them in games. I don't get everything right so if you see stuff let me know. Sometimes I just want to chuck it all. But I am going to bother EA heads to see if they can put a roster import function into next year's game. I doubt they will, but it is worth a shot to make some noise about it.

That would be a great feature. Or even a CFM carry over like in MLB the show? I'm still waiting for total customization... custom conferences, ability to choose number of teams and conferences, playoff format, uniform creator (if they won't give us all the classic uniforms). I can always hope??? I created a 76 madden roster on 16. Played out great. Vikes Raiders super bowl. How nice to be able to transfer that from one madden to the next...
