Re: 1980 Season Roster PS4

I just uploaded the NFC East Teams: Cardinals, Cowboys, Eagles, Giants, and Redskins

Give them a play-through and see what you think.

My goal is to complete this roster by the end of the month!

New update:

The NFC Central: Bears, Buccaneers, Lions, Packers, and Vikings are now finished.

Only the NFC West left to go.

Please let me know if you see any mistakes or problems with the roster.

Re: 1980 Season Roster PS4

The full 1980 roster is now posted on Madden Share.

Again, no free agents or expansion teams have been touched and I will not be dealing with them. This is for Play Now only.

Please let me know if you see any issues. Let me know how the roster is playing for you.

Enjoy!

Re: 1980 Season Roster PS4

it’s almost impossible to get cfm to play right with modern rosters. don’t sweat that. Play Now is way better than CFM. Ive preached this on the slider forums for a while now, no one wants to listen. but with classic rosters, you really don’t have a choice because of the custom playbooks. when this remodeling is through, im gonna get this on PS4. seen tons of teams don listed released by MUTleaks that sounds promising.

can’t wait to play with all of these. you saved yourself tons of frustration by ditching CFM. way more enjoyable in play now. it’s almost unreal how realistic and consistent the game is in play now.

As for CPU v CPU, I think the rosters work well with the right playbooks in place. I do not a lot if I want to do something else while the game is playing. The stats usually come out pretty good and the interactions on the field are solid. It really comes down to personal taste.

The one thing I will no longer try to do is use the classic rosters in Franchise mode. Over the past few years, including with M19, I have driven myself crazy trying to get the teams to play properly in that mode. It just does not work. You are to be willing to accept classic teams playing like modern teams, and for me that kills the whole purpose of classic rosters. So, finally I have given up on that idea entirely. So Play Now is the only way I play moving forward. If EA ever allows the use of custom playbooks assigned to CPU teams in franchise, I would go back to trying.

Anyway, I hope that helps.

What is funny is that while I normally make rosters that can be used in CFM, I end up using Play Now for myself. I started that with M16, and started to track stats and everything. Sometimes I watch games, sometimes I play them. Last year I did a 1963 roster that was Play Now also.

You are right, the game plays better and more consistent in Play Now. I started making playbooks in M16 too. I am much better at making them than I used to be that is for sure. LOL

When you get the PS4 let me know how the roster plays for you.

Re: 1980 Season Roster PS4

I started the 1980 season today, in Play Now mode keeping track of all the stats. I watched the first game: 49ers vs. Saints (Battle of the Cellar Dwellers)
The game played beautifully. The Saints won 32-26 in overtime. The 49ers had a chance to win just before regulation ended, but missed a 45 yard field goal wide left.

I used the West Coast playbook for the 49ers and my 1980BAL playbook for the Saints. Both teams were more pass oriented in real life, and the playcalling in the game was solid. The 49ers threw 62% and ran 38%. In real life, for the entire season, the 49ers were 60% pass and 40% run. The Saints threw 52% and ran 48% in the game. In real life they were 64% pass and 34% run for the season. I will take those numbers for a one game sample size. The Saints led through a good portion of the game so it makes sense they would run a little more.

Overall though, I am very happy with how the game played out. Again, that was CPU vs CPU in Play Now. I hope to get in the Giants vs. Cardinals later today.

Please let me know your thoughts on the roster. I would like some additional feedback too!

this sounds so good. went to my redbox last night, was gonna rent madden just for a demo. when this remodeling project is done, i’m on this, ready to watch. may fire up the box xbox 360 and have ncaa 14 going my 1980-2014 classic roster set. love channel hopping like me and dad used to do on New Year’s Day for bowl games. haven’t watched any of those ncaa 14 classics in a while either. will probably seem brand new.
