Need help with user pass coverage…
So I’m currently playing Madden 23 on Xbox one and this is the first Madden game I have purchased in years. I’m having an absolute blast with the game but every time I tinker with the user pass coverage it throws everything off. The CPU QB completes way way way to many passes each game. I play on all madden and I’m just wondering besides the obvious changes of CPU QB accuracy and user pass coverage and reaction time, is there anything else I can do to tighten up coverage? Does defensive pass interference play a role? Does having ball hawk on or off play a role? I’ve made it through 2 seasons and I don’t mind losing as I’m slowly rebuilding the Texans but when the CPU QB becomes impossible to stop, it ruins the game.

Re: Need help with user pass coverage…
I agree ... speed parity between 95 -97 is best range for pass coverage and pursuit angles also ur coaching adjustments have alot with how your defenders cover for example i play with chargers so if im facing LV or KC i run alot of hole and robber so i can have derwin james man up waller or kelce so i outside shade my dbs since i have help over the middle with my robber and a individually shade the TE based on formation alignment. Also i play man alignment db play ball or swatball and zone adjustments set to matchComment

Re: Need help with user pass coverage…
I had it at 75 pass reaction and 75 pass coverage and the CPU QB pass accuracy was only at 10 and they were pretty much perfect on all madden. This is why I figured there has to be something more to pass coverage. If I get the CPU passing game in check then I’m on my way to the most fun in madden that I’ve had in awhile. I’m sort of happy I don’t have the new gen consoles because it seems worse on them.

I was playing on the PS4 and I had tried all kinds of different settings and nothing worked, so taking the advice from last year I believe it was, I upped speed parity to 95 (am now using 97) matched with cpu QB acc on 7 was able to get better rsults.
I just recently got a Series S, and the first thing I did was raise parity to 97 and left everything else default on AM, and it played pretty good.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Lower CPU pass block. The best way to stop Robo QB is to increase pressure.Comment

Re: Need help with user pass coverage…
This IMO is the single most important factor to succeeding on defense when playing on All Madden. You must affect the quarterback and move him off his spot. When standing still in a clean pocket, All Madden CPU quarterbacks tend to always throw accurately, particularly on short and intermediate passes.
If you want to increase your pass pressure without changing sliders, you can try a few things:
- add a Superstar or X-Factor pass rusher to your roster. Edge Threat in particular is a very powerful ability. Double Or Nothing and El Toro are also useful.
- call formations which put more than four defenders on the line of scrimmage. Even if you ultimately only rush four, having five or six defenders on the line will force the offensive line into a pre-snap 5-0 protection call where, at the snap, every potential pass rusher on the ball is assigned to exactly one blocker and no blocker can provide help. This is the entire thesis of Mike Zimmer's infamous double-mug defenses which moves both linebackers into the A-Gaps over the center at the snap. The hesitation by the fifth blocker in providing help as he identifies who is actually rushing can buy you the extra moment you need for a rusher to win a rep and affect the quarterback.
- Blitz from the second or third level to hold in the running back and reduce the number of eligible receivers available to the quarterback . Lots of one-back passing plays in Madden - especially those in 3x1 sets - assign the running back a check-and-release route (blue route). The running back will tend to stay in to block if a second-level pass rusher who is not identified as the Mike pre-snap attacks downhill towards the quarterback immediately as the ball is snapped. You may have to get creative to attack smart offensive lines with high-AWR players across the board, as they will more often be able to correctly identify the off-ball rusher pre-snap.Comment

Re: Need help with user pass coverage…
A few other things to mention here.
One what team are you playing as? If you have average defensive backs then you won’t shut down the cpu, especially on all madden.
Do you have franchise staff points to use on your defense? I find this feature to be very powerful in this game. When I use my staff points to upgrade my defense, especially secondary I all the sudden start playing shut down defense.Comment

Re: Need help with user pass coverage…
Yep.....series s.......taking the time and learning what shades work best with diff coverages is invaluable like if u user a lb alot u mite wanna run outside shade on man defense since ur protecting the middle or inside shade and protect sticks on 3rd down or inside or underneath shade when ur spending pressure are a few examples
