PATRIOTS INJURY REPORT
PosPlayerInjury Note
---NO INJURIES---

The Saints scored on their 3rd play from scrimmage to star the game as Sproles broke loose for a 41 yd TD run. The Patriots answered right back on their opening drive as they marched down field and LeGarrette Blount capped off the drive with a 10 yard TD run to tie the game at 7-7. The defenses settled in and the game was tied 7-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Patriots got a FG from Gostkowski to go ahead 10-7 before Drew Brees hit Colston for a 19 yard TD to give the Saints a 14-10 lead midway through the 2nd quarter. The Patriots put together a good drive in the hurry up late in the quarter as Brady connected with Danny Amendola on a crossing route and Amendola found a crease and raced 39 yards for a TD to put New England on top 17-14 with 0:49 to play in the half. The Saints had all 3 timeouts however and Brees moved his team up the field in less than a minute to set up a 52 yard FG from Dustin Hopkins to tie the game at 17-17 heading in to halftime. The 2nd half saw the Patriots take a couple costly penalties on their opening drive and Brady was picked off on a deep throw down the sideline for the games first turnover. The Saints took over and Drew Brees hit Robert Meachem over the top on 3rd & long for a 72 yard TD bomb to give the Saints a 24-17 lead. The Patriots tied the game at 24-24 late in the 3rd quarter on a beautiful play action pass to Gronk in the corner of the end zone from Brady setting the stage for what is shaping up to be a great finish to this game. New Orleans got a late FG from Hopkins to make it 27-24 heading in to what should be an amazing 4th quarter. The Patriots mixed up the run and pass beautifully to put together a great drive as they marched down field and capped off the drive with a 4 yard TD pass from Brady to Gronkowski for his 2nd TD catch of the game to give New England a 31-27 lead with 10:13 remaining. Drew Brees hit Ben Watson for a 48 yard gain as the Saints moved deep in to Patriots territory but the New England defense stood it's ground and made a big stand setting up 4th & 2 at the New England 20 yard line. The Saints took a gamble and went for it on 4th down and Brees pass was batted down by Brandon Spikes to turn the ball back over to the Patriots. New England moved the ball to midfield before their drive stalled and they had to punt the ball away. New Orleans took over from their own 13 yard line with just over 5:00 to play in the game. The Saints picked up a first down to move the ball to their own 36 yard line with 3:11 to play as they need to drive all the way for a TD trailing by 4 points. Brees hit Kenny Stills to move the ball out to the 50 yard line with 2:54 remaining and Patriots LB Dont'A Hightower went down with an injury on the play. Brees picked up another 1st down on a pass to Sproles to move the ball to the New England 37 with 2:26 on the clock. The Patriots defense knocked down a couple passes setting up 4th & 10 with 2:04 to play. The Saints went for a 52 yard FG looking to make it a one score game and Hopkins hooked it and the FG was no good to give the ball back to the Patriots with 2:00 remaining. New England only chewed up 17 seconds off the clock on their posession as the Saints used 2 of their timeouts and Gronkowski was stopped 1 yard short of a 1st down on 3rd & 6 as the Patriots had to punt the ball away. Ryan Allen kicked a beautiful punt that Sproles called for a fair catch at his own 12 yard line but Kyle Arrington didn't give him enough room and was called for punt catch interference and the Saints would get the ball at their own 27 yard line with 1:43 remaining. The stage was set for one last drive as the Saints would need to 73 yards in 1:43 with 1 timeout trailing 31-27. Brees hit Lance Moore for 36 yards on the 1st play of the drive to move to the New England 37 yard line. Brees then hit Sproles at the Patriots 23 yard line on a catch that was ruled incomplete but a booth review determined that he got both feet in bounds and New Orleans had 1st & 10 at the Patriots 23 yard line with 1:22 to play. A pair of incompletions set up 3rd & 10 at the 23 yard line with 1:13 and Brees hit Colston for 12 yards and he got out of bounds to stop the clock. Brees completed the outstanding drive 2 plays later as he hit Lance Moore for a TD to give the Saints a 34-31 lead with 0:51 remaining. Blount took a knee in the end zone on the ensuing kickoff and New England would start at their own 20 yard line with 0:51 as Brady looked to drive his team in to FG range with all 3 timeouts still in his pocket. Brady hit Gronkowski over the middle for 15 yards on the 1st play and called timeout with 0:46 to play at the New England 35 yard line. Brady completed 3 intermediate passes and was able to spike the ball at the New Orleans 33 yard line with 0:09 to play and 1 timeout setting up one more huge play as the patriots look to gain a few more yards before attempting a FG to tie the game. Brady came out in shotgun and hit Amendola over the middle for a 7 yard gain and the Patriots used their final timeout to set up a 42 yard field goal attempt with 0:03 remaining. The Saints used a timout to try and ice Gostkowski and it worked as Gostkowski hooked the kick just to the left and the Patriots lose a heart breaker 34-31......WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!

* The Patriots lose a tough one in stunning fashion as Stephen Gostkowski just missed a 42 yard game tying field goal on the final play of the game as the wind took it just left of the upright

* This was a back and forth game from the opening kickoff and was one of the most intense games I have ever played in my lifetime of playing Madden....I knew by halftime that it was gonna come down to the last play of the game

* The difference in this game was the Saints ability to hit some big plays against the New England defense and the missed FG by Gostkowski at the end

* Tom Brady and Drew Brees put on a show as they were each outstanding in this game with Brady throwing for 368 yards and 3 TD while Brees threw for 441 and 3 TD

* The Patriots lost LB Dont'A Hightower to injury in the 4th quarter with a fractured forearm. Hightower will miss 7 weeks with the injury and will be back late in the season. Rookie LB Jamie Collins and veteran LB Dane Fletcher will see increased playing time as a result.

* The Patriots are now 4-2 on the season and will travel to New York next week for a big AFC East match up with the Jets who are 2-4 on the season and can pull within a game of New England if they can beat the Patriots.

Re: TNK - Madden Next-Gen Sliders

Guess I'm going to have to make sliders harder I'm currently 8-0 with Titans and just can't get the CPU to throw the ball against me. Maybe I shouldn't use edge rush and commit to pass? Man to man D just covers the CPU wideouts like glue. I lead the league in only giving up 131 points in 8 gms! Starting to get real bored with just shutting down every aerial attack with the Titans.

Anyone have any suggestions. I see TNK gives up a ton of yds through the air and he never uses pass commit!! Hes had some great games to watch! Maybe that's the problem not sure.

Re: TNK - Madden Next-Gen Sliders

I will try these out today. Refresh my memory on why these wouldn't be good settings in PLAY NOW? Madden 25 doesn't seem to suffer the same issues that Madden 13 did with the drastically differences of play between the CFM and Play now modes.

Did fairly well on this game. Saints had an 86 yard interception for touchdown in 4th quarter that made things closer. Only about 2-3 drops on either side. This game was done before incorporating the new tweaks. I will use the new tweaks next game.

Re: TNK - Madden Next-Gen Sliders

Hey TNK,

I've used your sliders for The Show, so naturally I came here when I saw you were doing sliders for Madden. I've tried to search the thread for the answer to this question, but I didn't really get a clear answer.

My main issue with Madden CG was the auto subs not working. And from what I've read and the stats posted, I don't see a whole lot of subbing for RBs. It looks like any RB subbing is done manually by the user, probably using formation subs. Is this correct?

This is a complete game killer for me. So, if somebody can just give me a quick answer, I'd appreciate it. This will determine whether I buy Madden NG or not.

Thanks!

From what I have experienced you have to manually do it.
