Re: whosnext00's Madden Sliders 15... Rated "E" for Everyone... PRO Version

Hi guys,
I thought to share my experience testing DPI & OPI: I tested these sliders on the same game (Lions ME against Panthers CPU) over and over. I started with DPI/OPI at 18/30 and the QB% were extremely low (under 50%), so I decided to raise OPI in order to get the WRs more aggressive and open. I went 18/45 and It seemed the WRs could get a bit more open compare to the previous set but still not enough (QB% just around 50/51%). I then moved OPI up to 66 and the QB% went up to around the 57%. The last set I tried was DPI/OPI 18/76: C.Newton completed the 85% of his passes. I don't know how to explain such a jump from 57% to 85%; for sure my play calling could have been a factor but I think that maybe the reason could be setting OPI over 75 (some kind of threshold to the next level). Long story short: I started following the theory that a low OPI means more aggressive WRs but then playing different games and changing only (no other sliders touched) OPI (30; 45; 66; 76) I've been led to think that a higher OPI results in WRs more open.

I play on all madden (I don't think the sliders work in a different way in the various difficulty levels) with CPU QB accuracy set a 3 and HUM defense set at:

Pass Reaction: 2
Interception: 20
Pass Coverage: 0

I also have:
IG 97 (I think it has to be complementary to CPU QB accuracy: IG 97+QB ACC. 3=100)

Following this rule all CPU QB I faced (Newton - Manning - Rivers...) move in the pocket, try to avoid the blizzing defender, force passes and ultimately run.

RTP 90 (I think this is linked to CPU Pass Block) I have CPU pass block at 90 and as a consequence RTP at 90.

If you set Pass block too high and don't set RTP at the same value you won't be able to pressure on the QB and the compl. % will be to high. So Pass blk and RTP set at the same value gives the best interaction between OL and DL.

Best game I've played with regards to the interaction between HUM D-Line and CPU O-Line and how the CPU QB reacted to the pressure (previous games against Wilson he never reacted as well as this - though it looked worrying on the first drive where he was sacked twice by literally running into the rushers).

One thing of note, the amount of drops by HUM WR compared to CPU WR on similar hits may need balancing (lowering CPU WR Catch slightly).

Also it was really hard to get anything going with my Passing Offense. Felt like there was very little separation on the passing routes, aside from the corner route on a bunched formation. Feels like the CPU is always playing overly tight on the receivers, but maybe that was just the Seahawks.

haha, you got owned!

Go ahead and play another game to see how that goes. Hey, you were facing the Seahawks. I might raise the USER QBA to 3, need more testing. I'll look into lowering WRC to 75.

I agree with the positives, but differ in my experience with the WR drops relationship and completion ability of Human versus CPU QB with the new slider settings; but, I do not have my game results from late last night cause it was so late, but will play another game;

my position here is that your game came out as it did due to playing Seattle...I was playing as the Cowboys against the Packers, which are both 87 overalls and I had a very close game for the first half.. Was leading into half time, but then lost, and if the score doesn't escape me, let me get some coffee in me and i'll see what I can recall..I played after the Raiders game and was just really playing to get a general feel and didn't keep track to statistic or scoring details before I went to sleep.

The coverage is tighter, which is good, IMO. Slants are not as open, but it also helps when you have a defender in zone around the 7 yard mark from the line of scrimmage; the drag, you just have to cover manually to stop or drop Hum pass rating back to zero which makes so many other routes unrealistically inaccurate.

Adjusting WR Catch could be a solution, but how would that effect where the QB throws and how many throws will the QB avoid due to lower WR Catch? I have found getting the CPU to throw into NFL "open" coverage is difficult; the CPU likes to throw to players that are "open" in definition of college coverage, which is way too open for Madden.

I have found that there is a fine line between making the CPU effective and the CPU being nearly completely unable to put up points in a competitive manner...The CPU QB almost has to complete over 70% of it's passes to get down the field and score.

Re: whosnext00's Madden Sliders 15... Rated "E" for Everyone... PRO Version

Last Gunfighter: Excellent game and summary..Thank you for sharing....I agree on the question on how to deal with the CPU completion percentage, but at the same time, the CPU completed 81% of their passes yet only scored 13 points...That is where I get concerned...Seems as the CPU completion percentage is lowered, their ability to put up points is greatly reduced...Or am i missing something?

I love defense and the run game, but I do like to see the CPU be a real threat and make me feel like I have to make defensive adjustments as opposed to just calling Cover 2 Under all day or something like that....Though I also believe that 3 and 4 man fronts should put very little pressure on a QB in Madden and any team that doesn't commit at least 5 players to the pass rush, shouldn't be a threat to the point that the QB should have all day in the pocket, cause in the game, it seems, IMO, to work better...especially since we cannot get CPU QB's to react to rushers realistically or consistently...

I find the newest version of the sliders allowed for better QB awareness, but in my game I was the Cowboys playing the Packers, and Aaron Rodgers did run, and he ran before getting a lot of pressure, but at the same time, when a quick blitzing safety, for example, came free, Rodgers got taken down..

anyway, just my 2 cents for now..I hope to get a game in or two and post stats from some Cowboy/Packer match ups..

Gotta add, I like the CPU to be able to pop off 4 to 5 yard runs consistently on my base defenses; thus forcing me to commit to the run or commit to the pass instead of playing simple cover 2 and feeling no big threat from the pass or the run...I like a rock, paper, scissor thing to happen...

Re: whosnext00's Madden Sliders 15... Rated "E" for Everyone... PRO Version

Just played a game with the latest test set. Overall game very good, it was close the whole way but I shot myself in the foot a couple of times. Once Asiata fumbled inside the 10 and another time I threw a pick in the EZ. They ended up converting a 4 and goal with :13 left for the win. Either Cam has the clutch trait or Madden was pulling its late game heroics again. Cam was lights with 2 minutes to go in the half and at the end of the game, completely unstoppable. On the final drive they started at their own 24 and ended with a first and goal at the 2. On 1st he throws what should have been an easy pick but the safety just dropped it. He then takes a sack on 2nd, throws a short pass on 3rd to the 6 and throws the TD on 4th.

Couple of things issues stood out.

Newton's completion % was pretty high, at one point he was 13/14 for 187yds. He also ran for a few big first downs. But the big issue was he took a ridiculous number of sacks (only 2 came on the blitz, all other were rushing 3 or 4 and I never controlled anyone on D). Some of the sacks were at the worst possible time, at least twice he took them out of FG range by taking a sack and once he took 2 back to back to force a punt. He also thew a pick on the 2yd line. His receivers seemed to be pretty open all over the field no matter what D I called. The CPU run game was nonexistent other than Cam.

My run game was strong but not overpowering since I am a run first team and the averages were good. Bridgewater was more accurate that the stats indicate, passing windows were very tight with the CPU knocking quite a few down and a good number of drops by my receivers, especially if they were hit at all. One drop was on 3rd and 5 with under 2 minutes to go that would have allowed me to run out the clock, a very easy toss over the middle to the TE just standing all alone, the ball hit him in a bad spot...THE HANDS!.

Fatigue may still be too high at 75 without any adjustment to the auto subs. Most of my OL, DL, LBs, WR and even Bridgewater were either yellow or red most of the game.

So, how do we go about controlling these sacks, maybe taming the CPU completion % and getting their run game going? What about opening up the user passing game a bit, maybe raising user WRC? I don't want to mess with the DPI/OPI because I think 10/10 is the sweet spot and the CPU passing was already rolling.

A very enjoyable game, much more so than on AP or AM, I just need to find a way to get some offense going, as usual for me, another low scoring game.

Oh, penalties were 2 FS and 1 OS. Had 1 holding but it was on the play where Asiata fumbled so they declined it.

EDIT: I had to come back and edit this, they actually scored with :09 left and I paused the game and input the stats. When I went back they squib kicked it and I ended up getting the ball at my 46 with :07. Obviously I called the Hail Mary. Bridgewater rolled right and let it rip, Thielen makes a fantastic leaping grab in all kinds of traffic at the 5, stumbles and gets drilled by 3 Panthers...at the one...

I was mashing the timeout button...but time had expired...

Sorry I deleted my post, I went back to edit it and the stats got all screwed up so I just started over. Well, as usual I think the comp % is tied directly to the 9 sacks, if he throws the ball away he takes less sacks and lowers his %, both problems solved. The question is how do we accomplish that. And in all honesty I rarely call cover 2, lets just say I call a pretty diverse defensive game but not a large % of blitz's.

I agree the CPU run game needs to be improved, Caroline is a running team, they should be able to generate some kind of run game. I was not really threatened by their RBs at all, only Cam.
