I decided to let the CPU handle it. I did it year one and found it was too cumbersome. So I went ahead and let the CPU take over around week 15 of year one. I ended up seeing a number of good free agents anyway.

For all 32 teams, I handle injury management, depth chart management, waiver wire signings and creating realistic trades between teams.

Each week I check every teams injured list. If I see a guy will miss the rest of the year I will IR them myself, then sign a free agent for the team using the random number generator. 1-33 they get first guy they want, if not we keep generating numbers and go down the list of players till they get 1-33 and sign them.

Also if the player has a chance to return by the playoffs and is a key front line starter I will not IR them. But if they are a back up or a fringe starter I will IR them and get that team help.

I do some interesting trades typically starting in year 2 (which I am in) where if I see CPU teams make some head scratching Free Agent signings I may make a trade.

For example at the start of year 2 I saw that Alshon Jeffries went unsigned in free agency despite 20 teams bidding on him!!!! So I went through each team and generated a number.

I started with worst records first and I set it for 1-25- they get to sign them 26-100 - no sign.

The Rams won the Alshon sweepstakes. A huge signing. Wonder if they will retain him? Cool story line.

But the Rams also made a strange signing in the off-season. They brought in Matt Forte. Despite having the young Todd Gurley. Well I did not like that at all.

So I looked around the league for a team in contention that can use a veteran RB like Forte. I saw the Broncos could really use not only a RB but a new QB as they let Osweiler escape via free agency!! So they were in a real pickle.

I generated 2 random numbers for them.

1-33 - they can make realistic trade for wanted players.

Well they hit on both and made a deal for Forte (sending a 3rd round pick) for him (30 year old RB's don't fetch much but Forte is a legit 3 down back).

Then they made a deal for Kirk Cousins who signed wth the Browns. I made this deal for the Broncos after week 4 of the regular season when I saw how badly they were struggling without a legit QB. They did not draft one despite losing Manning to retirement and Brock to free agency. I made a storyline up for Johnny Manziel as he made his first start of year 2 vs my Dolphins in week 4. Cousins was hurt (made that up) and Manziel proceeded to have a great game and lead his Browns to a big home win over the Dolphins in a thrilling shoot out. Big QB controversy in Cleveland!

I generated a number for the Broncos (1-25) and they got the number they needed to make a deal for Cousins. They sent a 2016 2nd and 2017 third for Cousins and a 2016 4th from the Browns.

Cousins then proceeded to throw 5 TD's in his Broncos debut. Denver is rejoicing!!!

So there is a good example of how I use 32 team control to create trades, storylines and spice up my CFM. Lot's of fun.

It makes me look at every team's depth chart each week to see how things are going. I don't over micro manage. But I take care in checking teams depth charts after major events like free agency, the draft, right before the trade deadline and when major injuries occur.

It keeps me immersed and feeling like my CFM is alive vs just living in my own teams bubble.

Lot's of fun.

Re: Armor & Sword's All Pro Custom Simulation (15 Min Quarters) Style Sliders

Hey A&S, just wanted to pass along more compliments on this great slider set. I'm in game 3 of year 2 with the Lions. Last season, I managed to make the playoffs at 9-7 thanks to a hail-mary in Week 17 as time expired! It was absolutely insane. This is also despite losing Stafford for the season in week 12 and going with Rex Grossman at QB to finish the year. Obviously he's no Stafford so I can't run my vertical offense to the full potential, but I adapted to more of a run-first scheme to close out the year. Unfortunately I got killed by Seattle in the wild-card, just like I did in week 3. Lynch ran all over me.

That being said, it was the most fun I've had playing a sports game since the PS2 days, so thank you for that. I love how each game truly feels different and anything can happen. For example, I almost beat the Packers in GB and was able to beat them at home, but I was upset at home by both the Raiders and the Bears. I love how I can truly feel the difference between Stafford and Grossman. I love how my very weak secondary can get torched on occasion. My only concerns with the sliders:

1. I recorded 18 sacks with Ansah last year by no-switch player locking on him. Watt had 14 so not completely unrealistic I suppose and I try to generate a lot of pressure on the QB. I also had a lot of TFL with my team. Again, probably due to the fact that I make that a focus. I also got burned by good RBs who would cut it outside for some big gains.

2. No missed FGs or XPs (minus a couple of 50+ yard attempts by me that ended up short). Not sure if much can be done here. On a side note, punting is definitely too easy with the kick arc.

3. Too many block in the back penalties and defensive pass interference.

Any suggestions on how to tweak the sliders for these (mostly just 2 and 3, unless you think 1 is a large problem)? Thanks again for all of your great work!

Thanks my man. Appreciate the kind words and thrilled so many are enjoying M16 as much as I am.

So as far as tweaks.

DPI - turn it down to 52 and see how that plays out for you. I tend to agree that it can be called a little too often. But watch the NFL. It is a regular flag on Sunday. It's insane. But that is the reality of today's NFL. You can't touch a WR at all past 5 yards.

Block In The Back - I have turned this down to 51 and am testing it there. It may become permanent. I would suggest that as well.

FG's - It's a Madden thing. Can't help you there. The only thing I could suggest if it is something you can live with. Before you or the CPU attempt a FG (I missed one yesterday for 38 yards....I really did. I pushed it right). Go to Super Sim and simulate the kick. You will get misses from the CPU as well as yourself. You just don't see the play. So it becomes a text sim game for FG's only. It will give you the misses and variety your looking for. Besides. Blocks are pretty much non existent. I know some have seen maybe one. But your not missing anything by super simming a FG attempt and it will make the game more simulation like in stats and not having a FG as automatic. I would say for any FG attempt under 50 yards Super Sim the kick. If your playing on a very windy day (10 MPH plus) I would super sim human kicks under 45 yards.

As far as sacks - If your going to user your DL then you will generate more sacks. I mix it up on defense. For those who follow me on Twitch and watch my CFM games you see I change between DL/LB/S/CB. I really mix it up which for me spices up the game play over the long haul. I also play exclusively from the defensive cam but non player lock. that is important as it let's you see the entire play and pursue it with a nice view. They fixed the defensive camera (like it worked on M15) on the third patch. I was thrilled about that.

That is what I did to keep it simple.

Re: Armor & Sword's All Pro Custom Simulation (15 Min Quarters) Style Sliders

Just keep in mind, Armor tested the crap out of these long ago, and he still hasn't really changed anything. When you do change things, it almost always effects more than the slider you are trying to fix. You drop that PI slider, and yes, you will get less calls, but the AI will also begin to alter the angles they take to the run game. It will be a little less aggressive.

I am in the middle of finding a balance here, I have a great time with this set. But the lack of pass rush is killing me (and giving an artificial boost to my own pass game). I feel fine with dropping my own pass blk, but wen i drop the CPU's it seems they fire the ball out much quicker, and im still left with nothing..... Vikes season, and I'm heading into week 8 with 9 sacks, and *gulp* ZERO from my starting 4 down lineman......its ruining an otherwise enjoyable experience.......

Thanks Armor. I just got finished with the draft but haven't advanced to year 2 yet. I checked the free agent list and there's some big names still not signed so I think I'll do what you did. Also I don't do any trades so I think I'll try out the way you do it.

I have coach firing on and have the other 31 teams on auto-pilot and just turn off auto-pilot for the team I'm playing that week so it will disable the drive goals. In doing this the teams that fire their coach or have their coach's contract expire they will resign them or hire a new coach.
