I'm about ready to go back to The Show and ditch Madden as I'm tired of tweaking sliders praying the game will somehow feel realistic, its a lost cause at this point and I dont think its ever gonna happen honestly. I think two small tweaks to the CPUs pass block and runblock would do the trick. Try lowering the CPUs runblock to 40 and the CPUs pass block to 10 and see how it plays out...

I'm honestly paranoid to touch any slider now lol. I put the auto-subs back at the 80/60 split across the board and the team felt like it had more intensity from start to finish which was nice to see. Having said that the game speed itself, on the field, felt like it was in fast forward and quicker then before. The tackling then became extremely suspect and it fell apart into another offensive shootout yet again. I was looking over my scores on the season and I haven't had a single game that I would qualify as "defensive". I've had halves that were but never an entire game which is what I want. I've built my team up to an 87 on defense and then I watch them go out there and just get man handled, shoved around and otherwise be completely ineffective. Now I'm worried that lowering those 2 sliders you mentioned will somehow negatively alter something else, the sliders in this game are like no other sports game I've ever played. Then you throw in all the theories out there, that auto subs effect overall gameplay, that sliders being set one way in the main menu and differently in the CFM menu effect gameplay, if all thats true then these sliders are a complete crap shoot no matter what you set them at, not yours in particular just the sliders in the game in general. Throw in EA pretty much never addressing what sliders actually do and youve got a recipe for people to come up with these theories that while I have a hard time buying into completely I also dont have a clue in the end.

I can't play on All-Pro unless I want to murder the CPU and play with ridiculous house rules to keep games competitive. I can't play on All-Madden and get a defensive game no matter what I do either. I'm basically stuck in between the levels and am either dominating the CPU or getting dominated, no in between at all.

I could deal with the holes at times, what I can't is the missed tackles like I mentioned before. if I invest in a guy with 90 tackle he should have the odds heavily in his favor to take the HB down unless the HB is just some brut who has extremely good trucking. I mean Carlos Hyde runs guys over as well but I've built his trucking up to 99 so stands to reason he should, the backup HB for Seattle with 80 trucking shouldn't be running over a guy with 90 tackle like hes a CB.

As for the pass rush, I got no idea. From left to right I've got the following guys as pass rushers whenever I'm in nickle or dime packages....

Arik Armstead (89 PMV, 72 FMV)
Deforest Buckner (90 PMV, 72 FMV)
Aaron Dial (87 PMV, 86 FMV)
Aaron Lynch (91 PMV, 79 FMV)

How are those guys not generating pressure and getting sacks when the CPU line has sub 80 PBK ratings? They can double one guy but that leaves the rest in 1 on 1 yet they dont sniff the QB and a lot of that is less about the PBK slider and more about the CPU QB going into instant check down mode which obviously isn't something that can be fixed by sliders. I mean I was sacked 8 times by Carolina, another 5 or so by Seattle so clearly the CPU isn't having issues but I can't get that instant pressure at all like they can yet I certainly wouldn't classify those ratings above as being average or below average.

I've considered lowering the AWR ratings for every QB across the board but downside is then the CPU will waste XP raising it back up again and no QB in the league will get better in their skill ratings. I've thought about messing with their traits but I've heard so many different takes on editing traits that I'm too gun shy to try that. In the end EA needs to make the CPU QB less robotic and have them miss open guys, not always look into the flat right away, make poor reads and/or throws more often etc. I'm afraid until that happens the game will lack in one area or another while slider makers do their best to minimize the problems with the game but creating other problems at the same time.

At this point Im clueless what to do. On a side note, when I put the auto-sub sliders back and realized that I didn't have them setup in the main menu the same as the CFM menu like you suggessted. Is this necessary? I've been tempted to change it back to your auto-sub sliders and make sure its the same in each but watching the CPU score 30 a game on my defense worries me lol. Anyways, off my soap box now, just wanted to pick your brain a little and provide some more detailed feedback.

I didn't touch anything else as I just wanted to see if better tackling would lead to fewer explosive plays, longer drives and thus lower scoring games. In theory it sounds good but the lone game I got to try it in the Arizona Cardinals turned it over numerous times slanting that completely. I still can't get pressure that leads to sacks, CPU QB throws it away or checks it down automatically every single time so my sack numbers are trash because of it. I did see a weird thing, I started playing as a lineman to try and generate pressure and when I would get a "perfect" jump my guy would shoot off the ball but then would slow down the moment he had a line on the QB allowing Palmer the time to throw still, highly annoying and have no idea why that happens. I know about the whole "nano blitz" thing but this is straight 4 man rush in zone just rushing with a pre-designated rusher so no idea why it would trigger that and if it didn't then I have no idea why my guy would suddenly slow down the moment he's past the blocker. Either way it's very frustrating and I have no idea how to stop it as it didn't happen on All-Pro difficulty last season at all.

EDIT - Regarding my sacks, I had 13 in my first 3 games and 3 total in my last 4 for a total of 16 in 7 games. I know the average is right around 2-3 per game and I'm averaging just over 2 per but now I can see why I feel like I'm suddenly falling off a cliff when it comes to sacks. To go from averaging over 4 a game to less then 1 a game now really spotlights it. I don't know what else to do seeing as I'm playing the same way I was before, I don't think the blocking itself is too good it's more the CPU QB just has an uncanny ability to dump it off whenever I break through.

Hey j rod I'm having issues with throwing to many picks, I have comp int at 40 which to me is not high and I have an acc at 25 but I don't use the hit stick or joystick to guide passed maybe that's why I'm getting picks , or I have the defensive coverage at 85 which one of those factors do you think is causing to many picks , and I'm using Troy aikman also with Des Bryant and Michael Irvin and still throwing like 7 picks a game sometimes 5

I did see a weird thing, I started playing as a lineman to try and generate pressure and when I would get a "perfect" jump my guy would shoot off the ball but then would slow down the moment he had a line on the QB allowing Palmer the time to throw still, highly annoying and have no idea why that happens. I know about the whole "nano blitz" thing but this is straight 4 man rush in zone just rushing with a pre-designated rusher so no idea why it would trigger that and if it didn't then I have no idea why my guy would suddenly slow down the moment he's past the blocker. Either way it's very frustrating and I have no idea how to stop it as it didn't happen on All-Pro difficulty last season at all. EDIT - Regarding my sacks, I had 13 in my first 3 games and 3 total in my last 4 for a total of 16 in 7 games. I know the average is right around 2-3 per game and I'm averaging just over 2 per but now I can see why I feel like I'm suddenly falling off a cliff when it comes to sacks. To go from averaging over 4 a game to less then 1 a game now really spotlights it. I don't know what else to do seeing as I'm playing the same way I was before, I don't think the blocking itself is too good it's more the CPU QB just has an uncanny ability to dump it off whenever I break through. Yeah your sacks seem spot on. Maybe your team is just going through a slump. I know the passrush on All-Madden is tough but you are getting your sacks. Realistic pressure has always been an issue with All-Madden. I just deal with it. You did end up punishing them pretty good too.. Play a few more games to get a bigger sample size though.

Yeah if you don't like using the left stick you might wanna raise the USER accuracy to about 35 or 40 and see how that plays out for you.. 7 picks a game is atrocious. Sounds like some of that is bad decisions also..

I'm doing some testing now and I realize the higher the pass coverage the easier it is to throw on a zone like way easier I had to put it at 50 and do penalty sliders the lower they are the more aggressive the players are ?
