Default AP w/These Penalty Sliders=Amazing!

Post Tuner: Updated 10/18/16

This is my post tuner update on these penalty adjustments. After the tuner update the gameplay got really dorked up. So much so that I almost stopped playing because the run game got muted really bad. But I think I have found a really good combo now. The holding penalty slider seemed to be the key. 95 seems extreme but holding is the most called penalty in the NFL. Each team averages nearly 2 per game. Through 8 games I have 9 holding calls and the CPU has 18. But I have also spent XP to make all of my OL disciplined. The adjustment seems to have blended the effects of the tuner really well on the run game.

I'm not going in depth with the gameplay all I will say is you will see what you see on Sunday with these penalty adjustments. I'm an average player that is a sim guy who doesn't switch. Below are the relevant settings I'm using (Note: I make the settings the same in main menu as CFM; not sure if it makes a difference.

SKILL LEVEL: All-Pro
GAME SPEED: Slow
QUARTER LENGTH: 15 Minutes
ACCELERATED CLOCK: ON
MINIMUM PLAY CLOCK TIME: 13

PLAYER SKILL: All 50
CPU SKILL: All 50
SPECIAL TEAMS: All 50. Update: Punt Accuracy Now at 100.

INJURIES: 50
FATIGUE: 58 (+3)
MIN PLAYER SPEED THRESHOLD: 50

OFFSIDE: 55
FALSE START: 55
HOLDING: 95 (+40)
DEFENSIVE HOLDING: 55
FACE MASK: 55
DEFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE: 55
OFFSENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE: ON
KICK CATCH INTERFERENCE: ON
ILLEGAL BLOCK IN THE BACK: 50
INTENTIONAL GROUNDING: OFF
ROUGHING PASSER: 55
ROUGHING KICKER: ON
RUNNING INTO THE KICKER: ON

OPI and Intentional Grounding MUST be OFF. This dramatically impacts DB-WR interaction and QB pocket awareness. Update: Post tuner, OPI can be back on. With these adjustments the DB-WR interaction plays really well. You will see a mix of "sticky coverage" and guys getting wide open. With OPI on WRs seem to not hold on to the ball as well in traffic.

Care to elaborate in what way OPI and intentional grounding affect wr-db and qb pocket awareness?

I've found that default AP plays real well too but that I just didn't see enough penalties so I raised penalty sliders.

I'm very curious about turning off IG and OPI. What does it do exactly?

I did a bunch of testing with DPI and D.Holding. With DPI and D.Holding at 55 the coverage is too soft. Guys are always open. With DPI at 55 and D.Holding at 50 the DBs have much tighter coverage but the WRs don't really play the ball aggressively and often drop catchable balls. Turn the OPI off and you lose that issue. You get some amazing WR/DB interactions.

With IG off I've noticed the release is much quicker and QBs often avoid the rush by throwing the ball over WRs which you will see even with IG on. With these sliders the way I have them set I'm seeing all kinds of plays. Overthrows, pass breakups, DPI, amazing catches (but not overpowered), blown coverages, coverage sacks, etc. I playing with the Niners, so take it with a grain of salt, but I only have 4 sacks in 3 games. I blitz about 20% of the time and I user my RE.

Another box score. This game was a defensive struggle until the 4th quarter when the game opened up. Didn't realize beforehand that the Seahawks only had 2 active wr's and a FB playing TE. Guess we'll chalk that up to a CFM issue. The Niners WRs are horrific, I didn't score the TD until the game was essentially over.

I am pretty close to that. I will give them a go tonight with those penalties off. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe post in the default slider group -
