CLUBBS MADDEN 18
ALL-PRO REALISM SLIDERS

Welcome to my first slider thread. I'm now on a mission to fix this game. Any help and feedback would be great

Other slider groups have done a great job of getting close to realistic scorelines, however games see anywhere from 400-600 offensive yards per game, per team.

My aim is to try get games with realistic scores with realistic yards per game. I also hope to magically fix the issues with sacks. To reduce them you have to increase pass blocking, this leads to CPU QB's having too much time in the pocket, leading to big plays and high yardage games.

I'm hoping to balance the game enough so you don't have to edit any QB traits etc.

My thought behind it all:

Make the game a bit more of a defensive struggle, more drives ending at midfield. This should hopefully...
  • Reduce the number of touchdowns obviously, especially ones caused by defensive busts.
  • Increase the amount of field goal attempts, especially from around 40 yards.
  • Increase the number of punts, leading to teams maybe having better field starting positions.

If I can get this to work, we won't see constant 80 yard TD drives by the CPU.
Instead seeing more 30-50 yard drives resulting in either punts or field goals.

With teams getting better field positions to start drives these 30-50 yard drives could possibly result in TD's, and when 80+ yard TD drives occur, they feel well achieved like they do in real life.

How I'll do it:

Constantly playing the same game over and over again.
I'll be playing as the Broncos against Chargers. A close match up with two strong defences with pass rushers who can get a sack or two. The aim is to keep both teams 4 sacks and under.

After the game I'll post the sliders I used, the result and stats, my feedback and what changes I'll make.

I'll repeat this until I feel the game was fair and as realistic as possible, before going into the next game and making sure that it results in another fair game,
this time against Dallas.

Additional Notes and Acknowledgements

Big acknowledgement goes to Flazko and TDawg. I'll be using the penalty and auto sub sliders which Flazko worked on and the XP sliders which TDawg has worked on. (I think I changed a couple of the sliders by 1 or 2 but that's it.

I used Flazko's All-Pro Blue set as a starter and have worked from there.

Here are a link to both of their threads:

TDawg's Madden 18 XP Sliders Thread

As always stated. Make the adjustments in the main menu before importing into your CFM.

Feedback
Some positives come from this game. The first has got to be the sacks. Kept it nice and low. A couple of the CPU sacks were on me taking too much time. All mine on Rivers came on them attempting long balls late in the game, all from Wolfe.

I feel my rushing is about right. Anderson rushed on average 4.4 yards. Gordon however 9.8, that may need fixing. However a 70 yard rushing TD helped that a little bit.

At the half it was 16-10 to me. Game felt great. Then Gordon broke a tackle and ran for 70 yards, and the game went crazy.

I got 1 pick 6, the CPU got 2, so may bump interceptions down slightly. Both CPU interceptions were partly on me however.

CPU made a few big drops in space, these could have kept drives alive, bringing the possession time closer together which could bring score closer. Removing the 3 pick 6's it's a 38-17 game, which looks more realistic.

In the end I had 82 plays while the CPU only had 45. So I'm bang on with the 120 plays in a game.

I'd also say fatigue isn't high enough, Charles only got 5 plays to Anderson's 35... On terms of injuries. Bolles got a slight ankle sprain but continued. Going to keep an eye on injuries over a few games.

Changes To Make

  • Increase fatigue to help with rotation.
  • Put interceptions down slightly.
  • CPU run blocking down slightly.
  • Tackling for both teams up slightly.
  • Either improve CPU QB accuracy slightly or catching.
  • Put speed threshold up slightly to reduce frequency of huge rushing TD's.

I was getting too many yards as well. Were yours from rushing or passing?

I'm hoping speed threshold will make the game tighter.

Feedback
Probably a set back to the first game. Showing similar results. I thought that the increase in tackling and speed threshold would maybe affect the CPU run game, reducing it with me breaking up the big plays. That didn't happen however, with Gordon running in a 75-yard TD. My run game is still too high however.

It seemed harder to break down the CPU when I got into the red zone which was good. However I made 6 FG's which really beefed up the score. Plays aren't ending early on but deep in FG range.

The fatigue increase led to more rotation which was good. I may look at increasing the speed threshold even further.

There was 0 interception chances which will need to be looked at. However I'm happy with what the passing yards in the game is. Rushing yards need to be cut by around half.

I once again dominated the clock. Nearly 39 minutes to 21. Reducing the strength of the rush game may help cut this down.

In terms of sacks... yeah. Please help me fix this Madden Gods.

Changes To Make

  • Put interceptions for both teams back up slightly.
  • Both teams run blocking down slightly.
  • CPU QB accuracy lower hoping for poor passes instead of taking sacks.

Good methodology, but I would suggest playing at least 2 games (and probably 3-4) and averaging results before changing anything. There are enough random die roles and differences in play calls in Madden that you can get wildly different results even playing the same match up over and over again.

I know this, because I have played the NYG vs Dal game about 15 times looking for a slider setting that will make me happy . . .

I have been playing a few behind the scenes without posting them. Not playing the full game. Maybe a half. Fine tuning quickly before testing again before deciding to do a full game.

Re: Clubbs Madden 18 All-Pro Realism Sliders

I'd be very careful about making any slider adjustments from a game or two.

Go look at NFL box scores. All the time you see under 2 ypc from a team that a week later might average 4. There's a lot of variance in real life and in Madden.

Do that and you're already setting yourself up for a constant tug & pull of massive slideritis where every change you think you're making is simply meaningless.

Just my 2 cents. I see variance measuring 15-30 games at a time, 1-2 is just completely meaningless.
