Agreed. I literally dread to think what Madden 19 is going to look like. I can only imagine the meetings they're having and what gimmick BS they're coming up with to attract more fans that they can translate in to online players / spending money on MUT packs.

The 1st down playcalling was filled with PA Shots & Verts. 2nd and long was full of running plays and Verts. 3rd and long was stacked with PA Shots. The only time decent plays were in the game plan was around 2nd & Medium and 3rd & Medium. It's not about it being hard coded in to the CPU, it's the fact the CPU uses it's game plan associated with that playbook which is heavily stacked with awful plays.

The same applies for Defense. It's literally laughable. The EXACT same defensive plays are set to be called for about 4 different scenarios, so it doesn't matter what formation you come out in, they'll still look to call the same plays. On goal line defense, there are only 2 plays the CPU chooses from....

Don't get me wrong, I set the scheme's to Balanced as well as I think it helps, but the problem lies within the playbooks themselves.

Because of this, I've edited a few playbooks using real life percentages from 2017 around whether they ran or passed based on down and distance. I have then allocated each situation 30 plays for the CPU to choose from, which is the max.

For example, if the data shows me it was a 50/50 split between running and passing on 1st down, I allocated 15 runs plays and 15 pass plays to their 1st down play calling choices. If on 2nd and short it was a 75/25 split, I'd allocate 23 run plays and 7 pass plays etc...

Tomorrow I'll give them a test to see how it plays.
Can you edit the default playbooks in the main menu and save them so they will load into CFM? Or do they revert to default when in CFM

If they load, problem solved... partially.

There's only one way to get the custom playbooks to work, and it involves the second profile/second controller/3rd string QB workaround.

I would do a happy dance if they remedied this situation and allowed us to assign customs to the CPU from the user's main profile, but there's no way they get that done, given how low sim, offline play is on their priority list.

I figured as much. I was hoping against hope here even though I knew that it really wasn't possible. I'm done using the second profile as I move forward.

Yeah, play calling is just as bad on AM. The stupid shot plays & 4 verts basically ruin the game for me. Im using custom playbioks from here on out. They are so bad... i know some believe it will cause perfect weather (i havent seen for myself to validate) but to me its a fair trade off imo. Chargers first 3 plays (2 shot plays & 4 verts) just awful. I notice that weather in madden is never random, i think it based more on what month your in & location. Like its pretermined

Re: ZERO Slider Adjustments & HIGH MOTOR

CPU play calling, especially on defense, remains the single worse issue for me. With all we have discovered (traits, setting coach schemes, etc) it is this one area that can wreck a game. All to often I've found myself in a competitive game and then bad play calls have allowed me to unknowingly take advantage of the CPU shortcomings.

In an attempt to try anything, in the past few games I've deleted the community suggestions file before going into my CFM. I can't say for sure, but this may have had some improvement over the quality of the play calling by the CPU.

With the adjustments I'm making to coach schemes the offense seems more competitive and varied. I will need to find the time to play a few more games with the community suggestions file deleted to see if it has a positive effect on the defensive play calling. In the end it may not be fixable unless we use custom playbooks (at least for the defense).

I’ve tried deleting that community play call file before as well, it sorta helps. I haven’t gone back to it for a while though.

I even think that deleting it outside the game and then disconnecting network access, preventing a number of files loading when starting the game, has an effect on how things play out.

All of this is so dang hard to prove though. A lot of this can be filed under the “do whatever works for you” category.

Re: ZERO Slider Adjustments & HIGH MOTOR

Played a few games, I agree line play is better and really good animations.
however im getting very high scoring games, defense seems very lose.
not sure how to tighten up that aspect.
