Yeah I rate the plays from my playbook section and just rate those plays in the situation I want them called. I get a good variety of plays being called. Of course you still see some plays getting called a few times but the balance is good for me.

I am not positive how the weighting is implemented by EA, but it's reasonable to expect that a play with 5 stars will be suggested 5 times more often than a play with 1 star. i.e., if you randomly drew a play from only those two plays, you'd get the 5 star play 83% of the time.

I personally like to weight everything at 2.5 stars, then bump a few things I really like up to 4 stars, and a few things I like less down to 1.5 stars. There's no math behind it, that's just what I like.

Yeah I keep my ratings at 2 with a few at 3 some at one..

Another handy playbook tip. When you start your new book, don’t delete any of the shotgun plays, just take their ratings down to zero.

This will avoid the silly problems with 2 minute offenses only having one play because the game is actually using the four minute drill which is not an option to tinker with when you’re making a book.

I never quite understood exactly why that was happening, but this makes sense. I didn't understand the explanation in the playbook thread. Now I have to re-make the book I've already spent ~8 hours on :/

But what if there are shotgun formations I don't want? Are you saying I have to keep them in the book anyway?

If you want to use coach suggestion, the formations and the plays have to be in the book, but you can rate them all at zero stars, which means they'll never be suggested to you.

The problem is for some unknown reason when in the two minute offense the coach suggestions pull from some weird 4 minute offense scenario that we can’t access when making a playbook.

So if you delete the shotgun plays that are in the hidden 4 min scenario your coach won’t have any plays to pull from and you’ll be stuck with the one play you couldn’t delete because it was the last in that scenario.

This only matters if you use coach suggestions. If you call everything from your whole book rating the plays doesn’t make any difference.

If you leave the shotgun plays and just remove all Of their stars. Your coach won’t suggest them during the game. BUT in the two minute drill you will have a variety of plays to chose from. Just not the ones you picked
