MUT Question: Saving key players good or bad?

So I am new to Ultimate Team in Madden 15 but I am starting to figure it out. I bought one rookie pack and it was decent, and I bid on two WRs because my offense is focused around QB Case Keenum and HB Brandon Bolden for now.

My Question is I got Kirk Cousins who I like in this game, as well as Richard Sherman (as many people did when they started their MUT). I have yet to play Sherman because I also got Darqueze Dennard in my opening pack and I wanted to save him to have on my team when I actually get other good players.

Is this a smart theory to save higher ranked players (like Sherman) and not play them or use their contracts until your team is good and more established?

(Side note: without Sherman I am 3-0 online so it looks like I don't actually need him yet)

contracts are so insanely dirt cheap in M15 that theres no reason to have good players sit just to 'save contracts'

Sherman drops from 81 to 70 on the 5th so use him while you can

I have started doing this

since the rookie challenges are fairly easy

plus I want to save my contracts for when I take my team online

the lineup save function comes in handy, I can swap lineups quick

Contracts seem anything but dirt cheap. I have probably 10-15 players who are running low on contracts. It's going to cost several thousand points to renew them all.

Should I just try to sell some of them on the auction house, or spend the money to renew the contracts?

I have been saving coins knowing the time would come when I would also have 15-20 players who would have low contracts. I decided ten games ago I would just play everyone and brace to buy contracts.

Besides buying contracts I am in ultimate save coins mode. Im in season two online and have a solid 75 overall teams just about all around. Rodgers helped speed up my team progression when I got his card for nothing
