How's your team going? Madden 20 Edition AKA The Year of the Theme Team

I know we've got a few MUT players so I thought we could try to get a thread going. Since this particular sub forum is low traffic it could be a catch-all to post progress and any questions.

I've currently got an 88 OVR team. I started out building a Steelers theme, but that's what I did last year. I realized I had mostly the same players and I needed guests at the exact same spots to keep the team H2H worthy.

I noticed most of my guests could get Titans chemistry and the hybrid team was born. I currently have T6 (30/50) Steelers and T5 Titans (25/50). You can view the team at the following link:

https://www.muthead.com/20/team-buil...-d4dbd6fbc25e/

I only entered the cards up to their current upgrade level. I did not add any info about chems or abilities, as MUT Head's team builder does not give you enough slots.

As far as chems and abilities go I have Go Deep and Run Stuff both at tier 6. My abilities on offense are all on my WRs.

Randle El - Slant Specialist, Streak Specialist, Grab n Go
Randy Moss - Streak Specialist, Post Specialist
Torry Holt - In Specialist, Slot-o-Matic, Slot Apprentice

Randle El's combination of abilities make him a particularly deadly solo receiver in trips sets. If you press him you must have help both over the top and inside otherwise it's an easy pitch and catch for me so long as I pick the right route. With Grab n Go those slants turn into big plays. Lookie RPOs are very good.

Moss I'm crafting to be a pure deep threat, and Holt is my slot. He has by far the best short and medium route running on my roster, and he's the only guy not above the 90 deep route running threshold.

On defense I've got the following abilities:

Damon Harrison Sr.: Run Stuffer (quicker block shed plus the ability to tackle while engaged)

Ryan Shazier: Tackle Supreme

Pat Tillman: Tackle Supreme, Lurker, and Enforcer will be coming after I get "paid" for Battles and Weekend League.

I actually took a pass rush ability off the field just to get Harrison that Run Stuffer. I can contain Stretch just fine, but good players who know how to run iso's were killing me until I bit the bullet and used my 90 Power Up Pass on him.

Shazier and Tillman with tackle supreme help handle all the HBs with abilities. You really need to focus on stopping the run first to have a shot in H2H, otherwise the other guy may never need to pass.

The team plays great. I just wish I had a better RB. I was really hoping that Le'Veon Bell would be the Jet's MUT Hero, but that wasn't in the cards. However I've got big upgrades at RG and TE coming as compensation in the form of DeCastro and Delanie Walker.

How are you able to afford all the training costs?

Stacking coins from Solo Battles and H2H and buying cards at favorable prices. If you shop on Saturdays after the new Legends drop you can usually buy the lesser cards at a steep discount compared to the rest of the week. 85 OVR is where I've had the best luck, but some of the newer releases have seen very good prices on their 89s as well.

I also took advantage of the $20 Full Legend pack at Level 50 and I bought all the Level packs that were offered for points once I hit level 60.

I just got a 23K training refund due to the missing ability glitch from the last patch and I never lost any of my abilities, so I'm going to be set here for a while.

Re: How's your team going? Madden 20 Edition AKA The Year of the Theme Team

I hope everyone had a great MUT10 weekend. I know I have.

There have been some big upgrades since my last post. MUT Head's Team Builder hasn't updated yet, so I won't bother with an image. I'll just recap as quickly as possible.

The training refund EA granted turned into a bonanza for me. I was given back over 1.2 million coins worth of training and I only lost one ability that costs less than 40k to equip. I was also able to refund all the abilities I tried/tested, but wasn't using, and that added probably another 200-300k in value.

I completed the final MUT10 Solo yesterday and selected Randy Moss as my free player. Later in the evening I bought a Game Changer pack for 50,000 coins and pulled Troy Polamalu's MUT10. I now have both full PU in my line up. I won 8 out of 11 H2H games yesterday.

Team OVR increased by just 1, to 90. On the field I'm light years better than I was on Thursday. The training refund allowed me to add tier 4 Brawler. This gives +2 SPD, +2 STR at a cost of -1 AGI, -1 ACC.

I'm still running T6 Go Deep on offense and T6 Run Stuff on D. I have T4 Steeler Passing on my coach, uniforms, and stadium. My starters/role players are as follows:

LT: Allejandro Villenueva PU 88 OVR
LG: Bruce Matthews PU 88 OVR
C: Kevin Mawae PU 91 OVR
RG: David DeCastro PU 93 OVR
RT: Jon Runyan PU 90 OVR
TE1: Delanie Walker PU 92 OVR
TE2: Dave Casper PU 90 OVR
WR1: Randy Moss PU 94 OVR (Streak Specialist, Post Specialist, Grab N Go)
WR2: Antwaan Randle El PU 91 OVR (Streak Specialist, Slant Specialist, Grab N Go)
WR3: Torry Holt 92
HB1: Saquon Barkley 91 OVR
HB2: Le'Veon Bell PU 91 OVR
FB1: Anthony Sherman PU 85 OVR
QB1: Ben Roethlisberger PU 91 OVR (Hot Route Master, Conductor, Long Range Dead Eye)
QB2: Michael Vick PU 91 OVR

Defense is a bit different. I have to make extensive use of manual subs to get guys where I want them. When I play 3-4 Odd my starters are as follows:

NT: Damon Harrison Sr PU 92 OVR
RE: Jurrell Casey PU 90 OVR
LE: Stephon Tuitt PU 88 OVR
ROLB: Keith Bulluck PU 91 OVR
MLB1: Ryan Shazier 93 OVR
MLB2: Devin Bush 87 OVR
LOLB1: Kevin Greene PU 93 OVR (Edge Threat, Reach Elite, Under Pressure)
CB1: Mel Blount PU 91 OVR
CB2: Darius Slay PU 91 OVR
FS: Troy Polamalu PU 95 OVR (Zoned Out, Secure Tackler, Acrobat)
SS: Pat Tillman 96 OVR (Tackle Supreme, Enforcer, Lurker)

When I play Nickel Harrison and Bush come out. Shaun Phillips PU (LOLB, 91 OVR) and Jason McCourty PU (CB, 88 OVR) come in as my rush end and slot cb, respectively.
