For the spectate mode brethren....how do you not get bored over time with just watching? I've done it before but that's usually where I end up after a season or 2.

I used to be a guy who played on the sticks exclusively and I hated watching the CPU play or anybody else for that matter. It was extremely boring. My love for Spectator/Coach Mode actually started back with NCAA 14. I became obsessed with editing that game and then watching those edits play out on the field and I fell in love with it. I found myself having more fun editing and watching than playing. And it ended up trickling over to all the other sports games. Fast forward to now, at 47, with my stick skills and reflexes not what they used to be, looking at how beautiful these games are graphically, being able to edit and just control the management side and then watching the games play out with only ratings dictating the outcome...it's very enjoyable. I've been watching a lot of FIFA 23, NBA 2k23, Madden 23, and MLB The Show 23, and all of those games are gorgeous to watch. You see things you normally wouldn't while playing the game. I'll also add that there is less frustration when it comes to the warts of these games when you watch versus playing. It's definitely an acquired taste for sure though lol.

This I've 1000% seen to be true.

I honestly enjoy it when I do it but then I get the urge to be a part of the game in some way. I long for a coach mode that works but the locking on the HB and limiting my pass calls to plays w/ HB blocking or HB running a check and release works decently enough.

But I cannot tell a lie, that daggum slow sim does produce some good results and does look daggum good.
