    Editing Contracts

    Hey guys,

Seeing that contract resignings are somewhat off this year (i.e. Herbert always ending up in FA), while it might be a bit time consuming, I guess the best next thing to do is to edit the contracts - should I remember lol

With that said, what's the best way to tailor the contracts in the editing screen? I'm kinda confused on the mechanics on what the salary/signing bonus should be seeing that this isn't on par with the real world.

    Thank you.

Yes! But it has to be done individually lol I don't think you can do it from the main menu but in CFM, you can for sure.

Go to a player - i.e. Justin Herbert

Click on Edit and the far tab to the right should say "Contract".

I'm wondering how the numbers should be set. Regardless of the new Tags system, the Chargers are definitely keeping the guy lol And I've also seen the 9ers let Bosa walk. I don't think I have the patience to do this every time I play but for the first go around in a long term save, I don't mind jumping in there and keeping them set with their teams.

I’ve been doing this for about five or six players per season right before the Super Bowl. It doesn’t take that much time; I go through every team’s salaries and see which players have one year left.

I usually “re-sign” players who are an 88 and 25 or younger, though I’ll be a bit more liberal with quarterbacks. QBs get the biggest contract. For example, Bryce Young developed into a 95 after four seasons, and I gave him almost a max contract. It hurt his team’s cap situation, but no franchise would give up a superstar quarterback.

That seems backwards. You would think its editble in the main menu roster but not once you enter franchise mode. I,ve looked at it in the main menu roster but never in franchise. Thanks, good to know.

            Re: Editing Contracts

I will go through at end of season and "restructure" a couple players contracts to help a team with cap trouble. I only will do one player per team, and not every team. Just ones that may fall in to cap problems.
