Re: MADDEN 24 A “MAKE OR BREAK” RELEASE FOR MANAGEMENT

I hope those Franchise players that get to participate in the closed beta are mindful of this article and put it out there for the devs/Clint/Graddy to respond to. If Franchise is close and only needs minor updates....

If they're "committed to Franchise", what/where's the road map?

What's "in the works"?

Where's the CUSTOMIZATION that other games have?

Why hasn't relocation team names/uni's/stadiums been touched in yrs?

Why can't assets already in other modes be used in Franchise?

How about more sliders?

How about the cpu using the scenario engine?

When is OL blocking logic going to be reworked?

I'm sure everyone has a list of things. Please bring it ALL up in the closed beta, if you can.

Vent over.

Re: MADDEN 24 A “MAKE OR BREAK” RELEASE FOR MANAGEMENT

This feels like a lose-lose scenario, if the article is remotely true. Obvious launch bugs aside, M23 is the most dynamic feeling Madden in quite a long time imo. Dynamic doesn’t always mean better, but I think the gameplay feels good from a “Madden” perspective.

Franchise still isn’t the most engaging, but my expectations aren’t for a robust franchise mode at this point. I just don’t think that seems to be the temperature of modern sports gaming right now. I have to see to believe.

In general, I guess my point is there isn’t a clear path for Madden to have a year where everyone loves it. I’ve never seen it in my time following closely since M08. Whether gameplay was overhauled, presentation was added, franchise upgraded - the reception is almost always negatively mixed. That’s not at ALL to say people are never happy but more so that criticizing Madden is just as big a portion of Madden culture as the game itself.

Besides an overhauled franchise mode, I think one thing that would make Madden feel different is to overhaul the default camera. I don’t have a well thought out suggestion or anything like that. I just wonder if Madden feels like the “same old same old” sometimes bc there hasn’t been a new spin on how the game is presented in a lot of years.

The bold is so on point. Although it would definitely stop folks from saying same old, same old, a change to the default camera would be one of the few things that might cause a massive loss of sales and revenue. People want something different, but not a different default camera for sure.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Re: MADDEN 24 A “MAKE OR BREAK” RELEASE FOR MANAGEMENT

If we are touching the camera, keep all the current angles preplay and during play that we have right now, but allow me to choose which ones I want to use. I'd love to use the zoom preplay camera with the standard during play camera. I'd even love to stay in the default play camera after the whistle to watch the celebrations happen organically from that angle.

That would make the game feel a bit more refreshing and new without having to try and create new angles. Of course, a custom camera is always welcome and long overdue, but I've given up hope we will ever get one in the foreseeable future.

Re: MADDEN 24 A “MAKE OR BREAK” RELEASE FOR MANAGEMENT

I think most people would be ecstatic to have a well balanced game without exploits. Playing online in Madden is such a slog where there's metas and cheese everywhere. I don't see a scenario (neither does the CPU) where Madden gets franchise where hardcore players are excited for a long time.

I don’t really disagree - the camera idea was literally me throwing crap against the wall. I guess I just contrast with NBA2K where when I pick that up every couple of years, the default camera is always different (from the 2K cam back in the day, to broadcast, to this rail cam, etc). Of course it’s customizable but it just adds a level of freshness that they find new ways to present their game the 1st time you boot it up. Football doesn’t translate as well to different cams but it’s just merely a suggestion.

The devs need to pick a path and really nail it. That’s the problem, they never do. They add player models which is nice, but stop with about 6 and call it a day. They go graphics upgrades but still put out a game where the snow looks like ps3 era and the game can’t handle refs on the field. The focus on franchise and that means they just have to add a couple contract changes. They add the yard and seem like they want to focus on adding mini games type content but drop it in bare bones and basically ignore it after. They confidently say madden 23 will be a polished game and it’s the glitchiest mess they released in years.

Just once, I’d like to see them really bring it with anything, absolutely anything instead of falling back with a we tried, but can’t make everyone happy type attitude
