Re: Restructuring Contracts
I noticed it gave me a lot of cap space until I hit free agency then it was super negative and I had to clean it back up, but then once I hit next season the cap space came back. It was weird how it fluctuated multiple timesComment

Re: Restructuring Contracts
As soon as the off-season hits all that money you pushed out hits. If you use it a lot you can put yourself in cap trouble pretty easily. Especially older players that regress and all of a sudden you can't release them without taking a huge cap penalty.

So….. when does restructuring show up or where? I haven’t seen it anywhere in season for myself but is this an off-season feature only?

Re: Restructuring Contracts
Was coming here to mention the Saints.
They've been at least around -$30 million going into every offseason for about half a decade now and they just keep pushing money out.
For 2024 Saints are already at -$84 million in cap space.
I wouldn't be quick to use that tool unless you've made cap mistakes. But then you've got to plan on when you're gonna get out if it.
I'm still waiting for when the Saints are actually gonna try to.

Yeah same. I'm doing a Bucs rebuild right now and I had very little money going into the first offseason. Just dealt with it because I know I'll have 100+ mill in space once I get through another year and all the dead cap hits come off the books. I'd rather take all the hits at once than push money down the road.
The Saints started that trend (like the Eagles) because they wanted to keep contending for super bowls for a long time, but at some point you've gotta take the hit and reset the books.Comment

Re: Restructuring Contracts
The Saints in 24 are in a true cap hell. There’s no amount of restructuring to save any face without moving multiple big contracts off the books, and even at that, the penalties are so large that the dead cap is going to roll over hard. I don’t envy anyone in a multi user league with the SaintsYeah same. I'm doing a Bucs rebuild right now and I had very little money going into the first offseason. At least it allowed me to resign many of my players on the Chargers after being negative in the hole.
