First - major props for quoting that article, that's super clutch.
It's a wild task for them to have to create that before seeing it. On the MTS pod this week they said teams are telling them they're not going to show their real strategy for the kickoff in preseason and they're waiting till the real games. That means Madden needs to be about a month early with how they think this will work. That's not easy so props to them for even attempting it.
My top takeaway is that articles are popping up with Madden news which means today should still be the day we gets news. We'll see in 90 minutes...Comment

T actually dig the new rule and was hoping it would come to the NFL. I hope it comes to college as well. I'm sick of seeing college teams fair catch 85-90 % of kickoffs when it used to be one of the most exciting things in the game."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

It'll be interesting to see how much it really impacts returns. They're still kicking off from the 35, and the touchback spot was only moved up to the 30. I think some teams will still choose to kick it out of the end zone, especially if the other team has a really good returner.Comment

I can admit to keeping the kickoff length short enough to get returns thus putting them in possible physical harm in my games so no big thing really.Comment

In the absence of draft class imports from NCAA, this was the one thing I really needed to see to go for both madden and ncaa on launch. I need to see more info on Madden to be certain, plus the whole kickoff thing is going to be as much of a WIP all year in Madden as it will be in the real NFL. I just wonder how much they'll be able to tweak the entire special teams behavior once trends start appearing IRL.
