M24 or M25, which is the Better Game?

For those in the know, the way the game sits Right Now, if starting a new CFM today, Game Play wise, is M24 or M25 the better game?

I had an absolute blast with M24, but CFB has been keeping me away from starting a CFM this season.

Starting to get the itch for some NFL gaming, just curious everyone's opinion on the 2 games.

I realize both have their issues, just wondering what everyone's consensus would be.

EDIT: Not trying to compare a fully patched, and a years work of M24 vs. M25, just kind of a comparison between the two.

I held off on '25 after playing the trial and am enjoying CFB and Madden '24.

'25 may very well be in a great place after another patch or two but by that time,usually mid to late October the price should drop to $45 and Black Friday $30.So it really depends on what you want to spend gaming time on right now.

I just thought when playing the trial how much tighter defense is on '24 but I know they will have a patch in the works.

M25 no question for me, really enjoying the gameplay on default AM. The UI is better, different commentary teams, draft, revamped passing, new kicking meter and other things I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Do I want broken draft classes and out of control Ints of Madden 24 at launch or Madden 25 and it's busted defense? I don't know which is worse. Neither one was or is very fun at their respective times.

Man, I don't even remember the Ints issue in M24. I totally forgot about the draft classes, but I do remember that now that you mention it.

M25 definitely better, much smoother and even tho the game is still frustrating, plays a lot cleaner than M25

I enjoyed last year's but I would say this year's is better.

I got both games, initially 24 was better.


After the first patch of Madden 25 imho they are about the same. Maybe after the next patch Madden 25, and usually with Madden, the more patches the better the game. So I'm assuming by January Madden 25 will be the superior game.

I was still playing M24 up until about a week of M25 releasing.

I’d give a slight edge to M24 right now. Fully expect M25 to be much better after the next patch.

I think this take fits here as well as impressions thread (with amendments):

Great, so it wasn't just me! The beta felt VERY organic as far as movement and interaction. However, after release the game just felt very stiff and on rails to me. So much so, that I had to boot up M24 again to compare because I could've sworn (once again) that the M25 beta felt leagues better than M24. There was no question during the beta access but many questions popped up after release which said something.

I don't recall the "ping pong" feel of the tackles that we have now while I was playing the beta. It almost seems like "Boom Tech" wasn't fully operating in the beta because "Boom Tech" is definitely the reason for the feeling that we're getting with the tackles now. Boom tech needs tuning ASAP. If it WAS in the beta, I would recommend that the devs dial it back to that level. Its even worse after playing CFB for awhile which feels very loose, organic and visceral.

With everything stated.......I'm still on the fence! I do recall the Madden 25 beta being better than 24, however, once the full release was presented to us, I don't seem to be able to form a strong opinion either way for some reason. Its like a standoff for me. If Madden25 shores up "boom tech" it'll take a clear lead.

Edit addition:
Ok, downloaded M24 again and went into the skill trainer for comparisons utilizing the "rushing attack" mini game to study it all. I was able to confirm that M24 does in fact have more organic player movement and M25 is in fact more "stiff" and on stilts, exactly as I thought. M25 feels like the change from M21 to M22 (22 being the one current generation title that took a few steps back when it came to player movement).

The way I tested it was to go full on northbound movement, then hard cut (left or right/with directional stick). M24 has a more pronounced, organic, & realistic "lean, plant, & change of direction" (both look and feel), than M25 has. Of course this translates to all of the players on the field during gameplay which is what I've been seeing/feeling in M25 but couldn't quite put my finger on. The introduction of boom tech did a number on the game gents and I'm not sure if its something that can be patched. This is NOT subjective guys, this is hard objective feedback and if you're attention to detail is truly high, you will certainly see/feel it.

Now I'm slightly annoyed lol. Do I fall back in with M24 and lose the new bells and whistles, i.e. new commentary teams, more polished U.I., etc, or stick with M25 and lose some of the nuance and physics with player movement? I may stick with M25 due to the life of the defense before the snap and the extra commentary teams (the pressure sensitivity of the defense is a game changer for me as well in M25, which M24 doesn't have).

Why cant we just get everything in a nice solid package, its like if its not one thing its the other, sheesh. You have one version where its like, oh this is great but I wish we had this, then the next version comes out and you get what you wished for (example more commentary teams), but what was great in the last version isn't present anymore lol (in this case the fidelity of the player movement). This is the reason that many of us have noticed that the beta was much better than the final release, its because the fidelity of the player movement from M24 was still present (and arguably more polished). The full implementation of Boom Tech for the final release has clearly caused an issue with the player movement. While it added more outcomes for hits, it removed some of the "smoothness" (in general) of last years title.
