I'm in the minority I guess but I never liked Madden gameplay back in those days.They did alot outside of that to make franchise better but the other guys did gameplay better imo.
I'd take '16,maybe '18 plus the last two over most if not pretty much all of those personally.Comment

Sure this will get moved but this list is ehhhh. A lot of the older games were not as good as we all remember as nostalgia helps with that. The most modern Madden here being 12? Nope. Super kangaroo linebackers. There are multiple versions of the game that were good since then. Where is 16, 18, and 21? Can't take this list seriously if we don't even include one last gen version.Funkycorm

I loved those earlier games . Even with nostalgia there are a number of things in Franchise I preferred.
That being said 16 was a really good one and the last time I got more than 2 seasons in.
To me the gameplay in CFB is way more fun than Madden. I would rank it above any of those but imo this years Madden is like playing in quicksand. Everything is so slow.
The last 2 drop way out of any top 10 for me because of the run/pass issue they wont fix.
Every Madden has warts. Too me though those 2000-2009 maddens were the best and the most fun too play except for 16 which I’d probably place #1 for fun factor .
That brought me back after 2010-2014 which I hated.

There was a ten year stretch from 1998 to 2008 where I thoroughly 100% enjoyed every version of Madden but there is no doubt for me the most fun I had was my introduction to Madden with Madden 99. I wish all of my video game experience resulted in the entertainment I received from Madden 99. And Madden 2004 came as close as any Madden in doing that.All Things 4:13Comment

Total PS2-era domination? Holy sad commentary!
2004 was the last version where I felt like I couldn't completely impose my will on the cpu.
Can't even guess how many hours I spent on 2003-2005, importing NCAA draft classes. Even just to sim seasons to see what kind of team I could put together.
2008 with the PC mods was epic.
'15, '17 or '18 belong on this list somewhere. I would be playing those if CFM files were editable/moddableYou want free speech?

Madden 09 on the original Xbox does not get the love it deserves. It is one of my favourites in the series. That being said, I tip my cap to the author. Great job on the article.I am the lesson after the fall.Comment
