You know WHY EA didnt. Ome out of the gate this new gen with a completely rebuilt Madden using all assets at its disposal?
Because of LIVE thats why.

Given the LIVE fiasco, EA couldnt risk ANY chance of anything remotely close to what happened with their basketball franchise, so they basically instructed Tiburon to tweak as much stuff as they could using the existing game.
And YEAH I do believe it took 2 years to probably create THIS version of the game given the new architecture of the hardware and optimization hurdles.
This is what I would bet happened.
