For linemen, strength combines with the run block ratings to determine how long the blocker can hold his block. Awareness determines their ability to pick up their man.

For runningbacks, juke and spin determine the quality of the move, I believe the exact words were "more crisp." The strength rating improves their ability to break tackles.

Absolutely, if you hammer sprint when you take the handoff you will fail more often than not. Hold L2 and when you see your spot, then hit R2 (sprint), it makes a world of difference.
