Why is it that I was just tacked (pushed out of bounds) by a defensive player and the clock continues to run? Doesn't it stop in the NFL when this happens? It has me second guessing myself.

The rule is that only in the last 2 mins of the first half and last 5 minutes of the second half does the clock stop when a player with possession of the ball goes out of bounds. If its before that 5 min mark then the clock stops until the official spots the ball then the clock starts up again.

It's been a rule for the last 15 years or so.

Actually it's in the last two minutes in the first half, buy yes many fans and even broadcasters don't know this rule of the game.
