User Catch

Im having a problem with the user catch. Not that my guy will drop the ball, but he wont even make the animation to try to catch the ball. this happens on both offense and defense. a lot of the times the ball will just go right by him or on jump balls my guy wont even jump and he wont even attempt to catch it. it has worked some of the time but not enough to figure out how to do it on a consistent basis. any tips on what i am doing wrong and how to fix it. ive tried doing it with and without the speed burst button. ive tried tapping and holding the catch button to no avail.

this happens as a result of throwing the ball before the WR is "ready". You must wait for the WR icon to illuminate. If you throw while the icon is dull he will not attempt a catch animation.

This feature was added to increase madden realism. However it was not done properly imo. The WRs on fly routes would eventually turn their heads and locate the ball. Same with the defenders. However on Madden this doesn't happen which results in WR and CB running aimlessly down the field. Its been a problem for the last 2 cycles since they added the illumination feature. It was suppose to stop ultra quick passes. But it hasn't because on short routes the WR/TE icon illuminate immediately after the snap.

I see what your saying in that regard, but my problem is after the WR is "ready". I would take control on a WR and he would do nothing (not all the time), no attempt to catch the ball. happens on defense as well.

It happens to me as well, my friend. It was worse in NCAA 13.

Yep the same happened to me as I was going through the user catch tutorial.

Yea it seems that user catch is no longer a viable gameplay style. Even if they make an attempt to catch, they won't try to stay in bounds if its by the sideline. If I leave them alone, they usually do.
